What is going on dance music fans! You know we love bringing you the best of the best in up and coming artists and today is absolutely no different. Today we are bringing you a killer artist going by the name of Marc illy as our Artist of the Week Spotlight.

Marc illy is an American entrepreneur, songwriter, singer, producer, blogger, social influencer and pianist. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa for a small time, then Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, San Diego, and Boca Raton, FL. He has spent about 16 years on and off of his life in California.

Prior to settling back in Los Angeles, Marc spent 1 year traveling all of Asia, and residing in Thailand for 1 year, and Taipei, Taiwan for 2.5 years where he opened up a representative office for his online business.
With Marc's varied interest and talent in a plethora fields, it was only a matter of time that he started to experiment and become successful in everything from his artistry, production, songwriting, e-commerce businesses and social media marketing success. Marc is more than an artist; he's a successful serial entrepreneur.

Illy returns with his new single “Xiangshan California”. The record is a piano synth driven, 4 to floor club banger that could be slipped into just about any progressive or pop set and get a dance floor moving. It has roots in classic house music while bringing a modern touch with sound designs of brass filling the breaks and wav synths filling out the rest of the record.

We got a chance to catch up with Marc illy and he had a few words about his creative process and his newest record:

“I made this song in my apartment on a sunny day day in Los Angeles and just knew the name had to incorporate California and my recent return from Taipei, Taiwan. Xiangshan is the MRT stop I used to live at in Taipei for 2.5 years starting in 2015. It also means Elephant Mountain in Mandarin and California is my home. I felt this song has the vibe of both of those places for some reason after I finished it. I like to create from scratch with an MPC 4000, synths and just go with the flow and how I feel.”

Marc also has a travel blog illytravels.com and travels around the world documenting his travels and experiences he saw as well as continuing to produce music.
