Whether you’re an artist, producer, or fan, finding new music away from streaming services’ homepage top hits is something we all want. However, it can be time-consuming and overwhelming without the proper guidance. Well, fear no more! Beatport is now live with Hype Charts.
Previously announced at the International Music Summit
in Ibiza, Beatport Hype Charts highlight and promote smaller labels, as well as enhancing the Beatport experience for the DJ community. It creates a new, user-friendly space that makes it easier to discover and utilize up-and-coming releases from artists all over the world. It also puts artists on a platform where they receive proper recognition for their work with a competitive edge. The concept is simple: Each genre page will feature the latest ‘Hype Picks’ for their top 10 genres which are hand selected by Beatport’s curation team each week along with one banner and two new release titles. The top song from each genre Hype Chart will then be visible on the Beatport homepage, truly shining a brighter light on deserving upcoming artists.
Terry Weerasinghe, Beatport’s Chief Product Officer commented, “The Hype Charts give top billing to those shining gems that might have previously gone under the radar. It’s a valuable tool for Beatport to promote new talent while encouraging the DJ community to dig deeper in the store.”
According to a statement Beatport made in anticipation of the Hype Charts release, “Independent music comprises 96-percent of Beatport sales, with approximately 25,000 new releases added each week“. This means that adding this feature will only further the upward climb of their brand and the independent artists who use it.
The genres include deep house, drum + bass, house, melodic house + techno, minimal, progressive house, psytrance, tech house, techno, and trance. Check out all of the Hype Charts here and stay up to date with the newest music from your favorite upcoming labels and artists.
