Some tracks just click, and giacca. and Aleno ‘s Through feels like one of those moments. You’ve got giacca., a producer with a decade-plus track record of house and nu-disco heat, teaming up with Aleno, a Swiss DJ who’s spent years shaping dancefloors before stepping into the producer role. Together, they’ve delivered something that’s as much about feeling as it is about finesse—a song built to move you, whether that’s on a packed club floor or during a sunrise moment on the beach.

In this interview, we’re diving into how it all came together. From the reverb-soaked plucks designed in Serum to the vocal processing tricks that make the track pop, giacca. and Aleno break down their process in a way that’s equal parts practical and inspiring.

Whether you’re a producer looking to level up or just curious about what makes a track hit, this is the kind of behind-the-scenes look that reminds you why this music connects so deeply.

SERUM

The main pluck in this track comes from Serum. I learned sound design in Serum in-depth while experimenting with Melodic Techno for another project, and now I use it in almost all of my productions, because I can quickly achieve the sound I’m looking for.

For this track, the pluck is quite simple; I used a lot of reverb automation to give it a unique touch and make it stand out from to the usual Afro House sounds that everyone is using.

I’d recommend other producers, avoid the trap of using too many plugins, especially with synths. Otherwise, you’ll end up wasting time searching for the right sound, which can disrupt your creative flow. Instead, choose one synth that you really connect with, master it deeply, and stick with it—you’ll get the sounds in your head much faster and keep your workflow smooth.

I believe working quickly is key. Get those main elements up and running as soon as possible so you can quickly tell if the track is worth finishing. Just keep moving!

MAutoPitch

This has become my new favorite plugin for vocal processing. It handles pitch effortlessly and in such a unique way.

You can capture the exact vibe you’re looking for from the original vocal, and it gives you the freedom to get creative and discover your own unique vocal processing style. If you want your tracks to stand out and be recognized for that distinctive vocal touch, this plugin can help you make it happen.

Tips For Making Music

TIP #1: This may sound cliché, but it’s always worth reminding artists—do what you love, not what you think will make others like your music or what others think is cool. Don’t let anyone dictate your taste or how you should express yourself artistically.

TIP #2: Master a few plugins and stick with them. Using the latest flashy plugin won’t necessarily make your music better. True improvement comes from focusing on composition, so don’t waste time with hundreds of plugins that essentially do the same thing. What really matters is the idea—focus on writing music, not on becoming a plugin expert.

TIP #3: Try to finish your tracks. Get to the arrangement stage before deciding if the track is good or not. If you keep looping the same 16 bars, you’ll likely get tired of it and think it’s not good. The only way to know is by creating a basic arrangement with the main elements, drop, and breakdown. In electronic music, a few isolated elements aren’t enough to judge a track’s potential, as each element often depends on the others to shine.

TIP #4: Embrace the journey. The process of creating is where the magic happens, so let yourself fully enjoy it without fixating on the end result. Experiment freely, make mistakes, and explore sounds—this is where you’ll find your unique voice and surprise yourself. When you stop worrying about perfection and focus on having fun, the best ideas often come naturally. Remember, the joy of making music is in the creative flow, not just in finishing the track!
