RAM, Hospital and Liquicity favorite Bensley has a huge album due out soon, and if the first two singles off it, “Do It Again” and “Ascension” are anything to go by, it will likely be one of the club and festival mainstays of 2018. That said, many producers including Mr. Bensley are also huge music fans; with the festival season gearing up, many of them are just as excited as the rest of us to hear some of their favorite tunes and artists live.

Your EDM asked Bensley, a veteran in the drum and bass game and an obvious lover of electronic music, to give us his top picks for summer listening and beyond and he certainly delivered. While there is of course a lot of DnB on this list, it may surprise some fans that Bensley counts chill vibe artists like Odesza, What So Not and DNMO among his influences. Even a couple of pop tracks like Camelphat show up on the list. It’s a fun, entertaining glimpse into what’s hot this year and what some of the best producers in DnB are inspired by. Big thanks for Bensley for this one. Enjoy!

Bensley – Do It Again (ft. Armanni Reign)

This is the second single from my second album, which is almost ready and I’ll hopefully have a date for soon. I’ve been experimenting with adding a bit more of a club feel to a couple of my tracks, while at the same time maintaining the musicality that defines much of my work. I touched upon a bit of both with Do It Again and it’s fun to play out.

Fluidity – Move On

This one stands out for me as it ticks all the right boxes you’d expect from a good liquid track, but goes above and beyond that. It blends a moody, dark bassline with euphoric strings and atmosphere – and it works. It refuses to be categorised and I like that.

Joe Ford – Where Is The Sun

This is another tune that exists entirely in its own right. Joe has perfected the ability to blend experimental sound design in to his music while retaining dancefloor appeal, with the finished product sounding crazy good each time.

Camo & Krooked – Heat of the Moment (Bensley Remix)

I had a blast making this remix. It means a lot to me, as anyone who knows me will know that Camo & Krooked are one of my all-time favourite acts. I’ve incorporated more organic instruments in to the mix here such as my saxophone, plus some distorted synths, generally creating a more reflective and unique soundscape. I’m proud of how it turned out – it’s not every day you get to remix your heros!

Keeno – Guesswork

Keeno’s use of strings and on-point drumwork are some of my favourite things in the scene right now. This track embodies a lot of sonic elements I value and build upon myself; raw instruments, compelling synth work and a clearly defined musicality. He nailed it.

Bensley – Under the Sunshine

Odesza – A Moment Apart

Camo & Krooked – Dissolve Me ft. Klei

Louis La Roche – Good Time

Jamie XX – SeeSaw

What So Not – Stuck In Orbit (feat. BUOY)

Joji – Will He (Medasin redo)

Camelphat & Elderbrook – Cola (ZHU Remix)

Muzzy x Koven x Feint – Worth The Lie

What So Not x Dyro – Bottom End

Mefjus & Icicle – Efficient

DNMO – Do It Better

Phaeleh – Together

Flite – Raincoat

Whiney – Sleek

Bensley’s “Do It Again” and “Ascension” are out now on RAM records. Look for his full-length album out later this year.
