On October 11th, The Magic Sun label introduced ÜNAM’s Alchemy, a unique project that integrates music and jewelry design. This was more than a typical EP release; it was an experience designed to be heard, seen, and even worn, as ÜNAM collaborated with bejoy—a jewelry brand founded by artist Mia Main. Together, they aimed to push the boundaries of creativity, merging the auditory and the tangible.
The Concept: Blurring the Lines Between Sound and Form
The Alchemy project began with Mia Main, founder of bejoy, who proposed the idea to ÜNAM as a way to bridge their two art forms. Working together, they split the project into two teams, each led by one of them, with ÜNAM creating an original track and Mia designing a jewelry piece that captures the spirit of alchemy. From there, it was all about letting other artists make it their own: 13 artists were given the core track or jewelry piece as inspiration, along with an assigned element—fire, water, air, earth, or quintessence—and asked to reimagine it through their own lens.
Each jewelry piece was crafted to represent its assigned element, complete with QR codes that link directly to the remixes on Spotify. So, by scanning a piece, listeners were taken straight into the sound that inspired it. This setup took Alchemy from being a simple release to an experience that fully connected the material and musical worlds.
ÜNAM’s Track and the Remix Lineup
At the heart of it, ÜNAM’s original track set a solid tone—groovy rhythms and organic textures, providing the foundation for each remixer to build on. And the lineup brought some serious range, with each artist adding their own style to create a release that feels cohesive but varied enough to keep listeners hooked:
Bohem: Tasked with Earth, Bohem layered hypnotic, late-night grooves into his remix, capturing that meditative dancefloor feeling.
Carla Valenti: Assigned to the element of Water, Valenti brought tribal, techno, and Afro-inspired rhythms, delivering a powerful, grounding close to the EP.
Holed Coin: Holed Coin represented Fire, bringing an atmospheric and layered take that added depth and subtle intensity to the project.
Wild Dark & Ariaano: Collaborating on Air, the New York-based Negrin brothers (Wild Dark) and Ariaano from the Netherlands leaned into driving rhythms with a unique blend of styles.
Seba Campos: Campos worked with the element of Gold, fusing his South American roots with electronic textures for a track that suits both intimate underground settings and festival stages.
Bringing Sound and Material Together
In Alchemy, ÜNAM and bejoy delivered an experience that went beyond just listening. They made it something you could hold, see, and interact with, creating a whole new layer of connection between music and form. With plans to bring this fusion to exhibitions around the globe, Alchemy is set to reach more fans and art lovers who are looking for something different.
It’s not often you see projects like this—where electronic music meets visual art so directly. For ÜNAM and bejoy’s audiences, Alchemy offered a unique way to engage, letting them feel the music and art in a more intimate, meaningful way.
