Flowers on Monday is a German-based production duo from the Black Forest in Germany. These two artists’ unique backstories and strong connection to nature guide their musical moves and are the through-line of their productions.

Their music is deeply rooted in texturally dense, organic sounds with a heavy emphasis on melodics and creating a heartstring-pulling texture to their music, often using live instruments, vocals, and similar qualities. All of this comes together to create music inspired by the natural world surrounding them in the Black Forest of Germany, showing that nature plays a vital role in their productions. This continues with their latest release on David Hohme’s’ Where the Heart Is Records.

The track is called “Miharu” and focuses on a delicate yet punchy piano stab, characteristic of the duo’s style. Tight, syncopated drums deliver the core piano melodies and textures, but the piano does a lot of the heavy lifting. The latest release continues their success and is a perfect follow-up to their work on other top-tier labels such as All Day I Dream and collaborations with artists such as El Mundo.

The release is supported by a collaborative remix from artists Gorge and Danjo from Italy. Their version takes a clubbier, more energetic take, adding a club-ready vibe and punch to the original mix’s otherwise softer and delicate daytime track.

Danjo (ITA) has been an influential part of Italy’s electronic music scene for the past twenty-five years. He started DJing at fifteen, in the mid-90s, playing techno, breakbeats, and more at exclusive events, gaining a reputation as an all-star DJ and talented tastemaker. Over the years, he has progressed through the industry as a resident DJ and promoter of open-air parties. As his career has evolved, so has his sound, developing into a softer, more nuanced vibe and texture, demonstrating his rise to one of the most talented artists in the industry today.

Gorge, on the other hand, is a musician, DJ, and producer who’s been at this game for more than 18 years, making a name for himself by originally playing piano, drums, and more before shifting to dance music in the late 80s and early 90s. He’s the co-owner of the record label 8-Bit Records and Katchuli Records alongside Nick Curley, all of which have helped pioneer what is known as the Anaheim Sound, a deep and groovy kind of club-focused niche of house music.

He himself has released on top labels like Freerange, Dynamic, and has earned many, many chart-topping positions in Beatport’s hit releases, and both of these artists’ debut on Where the Heart Is Records is a welcome addition to the label family and a continuation of both the artist and label’s trajectory.
