With Summer underway, most of the season’s anthems are behind us. Therefore, we’ve made room for deeper cuts which the cognoscenti should get a bit more excited about. A pair of tunes on the most recent releases on Crosstown Rebels and Up The Studs share the spotlight this month. Most notably, Airrica’s “Hi Speed Lover” which grabbed my attention more than anything else this past month.

1. “HI SPEED LOVER” – AIRRICA [CROSSTOWN REBELS]
“My inspiration for these tracks came from the pure fun of getting lost on the dance floor; specifically those moments where the whole room is bouncing along joyfully. I love those moments where a break strips back, a sassy vocal takes the spotlight, and you can feel the energy of the night building upwards. Hi Speed Lover features the fierce voice of Jazz Alonso whilst I experimented with my own vocals on Cherries.” – Airrica
2. “HI SPEED LOVER (NICK MORGAN REMIX)” – AIRRICA [CROSSTOWN REBELS]
Airrica‘s original is certainly the highlight of the month but we would be doing a disservice to the tune if we didn’t give the fabulous Nick Morgan remix a shining spotlight as well. It’s a bit deeper but just as much of a vibe.
3. “PUMPIN’” – ACROSS BOUNDARIES [UP THE STUSS]
Chris Stussy and Locklead join forces as Across Boundaries on Up The Stuss and the result is a solid, five-tracker that stars this energetic one simply titled, “Pumpin.”
4. “NEEM DE TIJD’” – ACROSS BOUNDARIES [UP THE STUSS]
Also worth mentioning from the Across Boundaries E.P. is this smooth nugget they call, “Neem De Tijd.”
5. “AROUND THE CORNER” – ALTON MILLER [MISTER BEAR RECORDS]
“Around The Corner” is nearly seven minutes long and sans vocals just the way you and me like it. Deep, minor chords with a mid-tempo rhythm. Say less. Put me on a beach in the Mediterranean with a cocktail in hand while this one is spinning and I’m a happy man.
6. “MNAJDRA” – JESSE BRU [OATHCREATIONS]
Released as both the lead single of an E.P. and as track #8 on Jesse Bru’s upcoming L.P. this month, “Mnajdra” is a divine production that boasts the sound of a jungle over the top of a hypnotic rhythm.
7. “OLYMPIA (TIMMY REGISFORD INSTRUMENTAL REMIX)” – FRANK & TONY [SCISSOR & THREAD]
NYC house legend, Timmy Regisford picks up the tempo while still keeping it deep on his remix of Frank & Tony’s “Olympia.”
8. “CALL 911” – ADAM TEN & RAFAEL [DFTD]
Adam Ten & Rafael‘s “Call 911” on DFTD boasts a stuttering bass-line that uniquely characterizes Adam Ten’s sound as of late.
9. “ULTRAVIOLET” – ALINKA [GUDU RECORDS]
“Peggy Gou and I met years ago at Panorama Bar in Berlin and had the best time, and I’ve been a fan of her music since the start. We share a common love for house music, so when she asked me to make music for Gudu, I was really honored and excited. I wrote these tracks just for her and the label, so it’s a very special project for me, and the music means a lot to me. It’s music for the dance floor. I grew up in Chicago, so I make tracks to close your eyes and dance to like no one’s watching. It’s an ode to the timeless sound that shaped my life.” -Alinka
10. “PANKO DAY” – SEBASTIEN LEGER, ROY ROSENFELD [LOST MIRACLE]
The latest collaborative masterpiece to come from Sebastien Leger and Roy Rosenfeld is this playfully vibrant one which should see heavy play all throughout the Summer season.
11. “MOVE” – ADAM PORT, STRYV, MALACHIII [KEINEMUSIK]
Keinemusik adds another notch to their belt with this tender collaboration that features Adam Port at the helm along with California’s Stryv and vocalist, Malachiii.
12. “SPECTRAL” – YUU UDAGAWA [TRUSTED RHYTHM RECORDS]
Tokyo-based Yuu Udagawa is responsible for this jazz-house fusion she calls, Spectral.”
13. “CONTROL IT” – MARTIN IKIN, WINNIE AMA [TOOLROOM]
Toolroom veteran, Martin Ikin with this whopper of a weapon that will surely whip the crowds into a frenzy.
14. “TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT” – ODEN & FATZO, POPPY BASKCOMB [DEFECTED]
Oden & Fatzo enlisted Portsmouth vocalist, Poppy Baskcomb for this Summer weapon that’ll definitely dominate the patios in Ibiza over the next few months.
15. “BRIXTON UNDERGROUND” – LIAM DOC [LIVERY STREET SOCIAL CLUB]
Livery Street Social Club boss, Liam Doc is back on his label with this floor stomper he’s named after an infamous London neighborhood.
