LA’s very own BINGEWATCH has made a name for himself both locally and beyond, with a penchant for drawing heavily on sample culture and house music roots to create insatiable tech house tracks. With music released on renowned labels such as In/Rotation and HAU5TRAP, endorsements from industry giants like Chris Lake and Deadmau5, and recent standout performances at Day Trip LA, BINGEWATCH’s appeal only continues to rise.
He just unveiled his eagerly awaited mixtape, ‘Bingetape Vol. 5’, flipping three hip hop classics into slick, house edits that arrived just in time for summer. The mixtape kicks off with “ALOT,” a reimagining of 21 Savage & J. Cole’s chart-topping hit into a groovy club track. BINGEWATCH recently shared the inside scoop with us about how he made it.
Next up is “DON’T YOU WORRY,” which takes ODB & Kelis’s classic “Got Your Money” and flips it into a glistening house track that’s irresistible. BINGWATCH shares, “This house edit of the ODB track with Kellis fit the house vibe perfectly when I was looking through tracks. I also felt that it complimented the 21 Savage & J Cole acapella about money really well too which was the theme for this Bingetape. A club groover that no one can resist which I have had in the locker for some time.”
The mixtape rounds out with “Big Draco,” bolstered by a bouncing bass line while he samples Soulja Boy’s memorable and often humorous interview on The Breakfast Club podcast over top. “I made this track after listening to the Soulja Boy breakfast club interview. He broke down his story on how he put on a bunch of different people in the scene like Drake, Rich the Kid, and Famous Dex and no one gave him due credit for his involvement – and said that he only had one breakthrough track, which was early on in his career. I wanted to showcase him as his own being because I loved how he was laying it all out and being a real one. Also this track tied this volume of Bingetape together full circle with soulja’s statement about how much he made on one project.”
