JKriv feat. The Phenomenal Handclap Band & Nic Hanson – Try Again (John Morales M+M Main Mix) [Razor-N-Tape]

Two years ago when JKriv and Phenomenal Handclap Band‘s “Try Again” featuring Nic Hanson was released, it seemed like we would enjoy the summer bop and then someday stumble across it on an old playlist, but John Morales had other ideas! The M+M Main Mix finds the excellent original track in Morales’ capable hands. The new version has a very cool percussion break added, plus all of the jammy, disco guitars you can handle! This new version is the perfect way to wrap up a very hot summer!

Jet Boot Jack – Everybody Loves [Midnight Riot! Records]

Thank goodness Jet Boot Jack took some time to create his new track “Everybody Loves”. This heavily booked DJ doesn’t produce a lot of music, but when he does, he makes his disco count! This track has a bouncy, summery vibe, a breezy female vocal that draws you in, and a reminder that we all have love to share! Check it out on Midnight Riot! Records.

Strange Talk – Vanilla Sigh [Strange Talk Music]

In May 2023, Gerard Sidhu and Stephen Docker of Strange Talk took a writing trip to Stockholm, where they met with songwriter Arineh Karimi and magic happened. The result is the synth-driven nu-disco “Vanilla Sigh“, a not-so-much-love song. Strange Talk has been making music together for fourteen years and they still sound fresh. Keep your eye out for their new EP in November.

Anoraak x UN*DEUX – Moment feat. Keilimei [Endless Summer]

Anoraak is back with UN*DEUX and their end-of-summer bop “Moment”, featuring the all-too-sultry-rapped vocals of Keilimei. The track has some subtle Middle Eastern vibes throughout, and one of the funkiest basslines I’ve heard in a while!

Yam Who? & Jaegerossa – Take You There feat. Suki Soul [Midnight Riot!]

Yam Who? and Jaegerossa are two of the most prolific and dedicated disco producers in the business. Suki Soul (Sara Larder) is at the top of her game, spending the summer in Ibiza as a featured vocalist for Hed Kandi. “Take You There” is a classic disco anthem that will call you to the dancefloor and make you wonder why you aren’t there all the time.

BLOND:ISH – Never Walk Alone feat. Stevie Appleton [Insomniac Records]

BLOND:ISH is one of those artists that you can’t pin down to any particular genre. Case in point, “Never Walk Alone” is a mix of nu-disco and tech house, with a synth-laden bassline and Empire of The Sun-esque vocals by Stevie Appleton. The track is upbeat and positive, which is BLOND:ISH’s mantra. Feel the love!

lovetempo – But I Do [Razor-N-Tape]

Mattie Safer spends most of his time as a member of The Rapture and more recently, Poolside, but occasionally, he releases music as lovetempo, and this August he released the deeply groovy “But I Do”, a track that rides the line between nu-disco, Balearic, and yacht rock. Get ready to have this song affect your nighttime hours.

Maryag – Free [The Disco Express]

Russian disco producer Maryag is coming in hot with their Playing For Time EP. All of the tracks are outstanding examples of classic instrumental disco, but for me “Free” is the stand-out jam, with a quick tempo, layers of strings, and just a whisper of a vocal. It’s a yes for me!

Jafunk – Into the Night feat. Stefan Mahendra & Triple H Horns (Luckie Star Records]

There is no stopping the Jafunk train right now! “Into The Night” is the final teaser track from the upcoming EP Disco Nights, and this track takes full advantage of Stefan Mahendra’s rich vocals and the incredible Triple H Horns. If you haven’t been watching Jafunks’ Instagram tutorials on how to make disco music, you are missing out!

JKriv – Waiting 4 Tonight feat. Betty Judd (Extended Mix) [Glitterbox]

Between running his label Razor-N-Tape, DJ gigs, producing other artists, and creating music for himself, I’m not sure when JKriv has time to catch his breath, but the brilliantly sleek disco track “Waiting 4 Tonight” is the result of all of that hard work. Betty Judd delivers a breathy, seductive vocal that will make you want to listen again and again. Check it out on Glitterbox now!

Vladimir Cetkar – We Will Never End (Dr Packer Vocal Mix) [Only Good Vibes]

Not only is Macedonia’s Vladimir Cetkar an accomplished jazz musician, but he can also take you on a mean spin around a disco dance floor! “We Will Never End” showcases his vocal chops, with an assist from Dr Packer on the remix. Find it on Only Good Vibes.

Lou Casablanca – Gimmie Your Love feat. Angela Johnson (Groove Assassin Edit) [Groove Culture]

Melbourne’s Lou Casablanca is bringing daytime disco vibes on “Gimmie Your Love”. The Groove Assassin edit strips away a bit of funk in favor of a lighter feel. The track is light, fresh, and summery, with Angela Johnson’s vocals bringing brightness to the lyrics without overpowering the groove.

Cloak Dagger – Miss You Still [The Discography Lessons]

Ben Field‘s label The Discography Lessons has just released Summer Sizzlers Vol. 1, a compilation that includes Cloak Dagger‘s “Miss You Still”. The track has a jazzy disco vibe that is perfect to end an evening. The Discography Lesson donates 10% of its profits to support mental health organizations, so if you’d like to grab a copy of this great compilation full of incredible talent you will recognize, click this link.

Soul Legend – dancebaby [Sweat It Out]

San Diego-based artist Soul Legend is a relative newcomer to the disco/funk scene and his diverse influences from hip-hop to soul to jazz can all be heard on “dancebaby”. This track has a fresh nu-disco feel and should easily fit into your playlists.

Nikka Costa – Dance ‘N Forget [Go Funk Yourself, Inc]

Nikka Costa‘s long-anticipated album Dirty Disco finally saw its August release, so let’s talk about the super funky track “Dance ‘N Forget”. Costa is serving up a master class in modern funk. Her vocals are effortless alongside the funky guitar and basslines. There is certainly a nod to Prince in here, and I think he would be proud!
