I will never forget the first time I heard Sidney Samson's classic hit ‘Riverside'. It was way back in high school, circa 2009. I was riding around in my friend's car, which was packed with far too many kids. We were all heavily into electronic music at the time and were listening to Electric Area (RIP). Then ‘Riverside' started playing, and when it dropped we collectively lost our minds.

Cut to Miami Music Week 2018, almost a decade later. Myself, and one of my friends who was in that car 9 years ago, were at the Monstercat vs. Heldeep showcase. Oliver Heldens came on and dropped a dark new edit of the timeless classic, and once again we absolutely lost our minds. Now, this dark, driving new mix has seen an official release.

Oliver Heldens and Sidney Samson – ‘Riverside 2099'

‘Riverside 2099' embodies its predecessor. Still utilizing the wonky intro synth and bouncing melody, the 2018 edit builds up the track as we all remember. Then when it drops, it dives into a driving, dark, sexy beat that instantly launches the track into modern day. Still relying on a Dutch house sound, this rework is just about everything we could have hoped. Check it out below.
