Marsh Wear has built a reputation for blending Lowcountry charm with rugged practicality, and their Fall line keeps that spirit alive. Rooted in Charleston, SC, the company has always drawn inspiration from the marshes, tides, and lifestyle of the South Carolina coast. Whether it’s days spent knee-deep in pluff mud or evenings out on the town, Marsh Wear aims to create clothing that fits seamlessly into those moments.
For this review, I spent some time with their latest Fall releases, each one really encapsulating the vibe of Marsh Wear’s mix of comfort, function, and effortless style. Let’s dig into what makes this line a great option in a crowded marketplace for anyone who loves that intersection of style and substance, whether you’re hitting the trails, hanging by the campfire, or just looking to bring a bit of Lowcountry flavor to your everyday (even for a Pacific Northwest dude like myself).
Sherpa Fleece – $99.00
This sherpa jacket really surprised me with how comfortable and practical it is. Made from 100% recycled polyester, it’s got that retro style that feels classic without being overdone. The fit is slightly oversized, which works perfectly for me as a taller guy—it’s roomy without being sloppy, and that extra length means it actually covers what it needs to, keeping me warm without sacrificing style. The dual zipper hand pockets and the chest pocket are super convenient, letting me stash what I need without any fuss. And that leather chest label? Just enough to give it a bit of character.
One of the biggest perks for me has been how easy it is to keep clean. Most sherpa jackets I’ve owned pick up dirt fast and get worn-looking after just a few wears. This one’s different. I’ve put it through multiple camping trips, and it’s been through the wash plenty of times, but it still looks like new. The fabric doesn’t hold onto dirt the way others do, and it comes out of the dryer looking fresh every single time. Honestly, it’s nice to have a jacket that can handle real use without turning dingy.
I also love how versatile this jacket is. It’s casual enough to throw on around the campfire, but it’s got just enough polish to work when I’m out grabbing a drink with coworkers or having dinner with family. It’s that balance that makes it so useful—whether I’m out in the woods or heading into town, it just fits. Finding a piece that moves so easily between different parts of my life isn’t easy, but this one nails it.
Waffle Shirt – $55.00
Now let’s talk about the Surfside Waffle Shirt. This crewneck has been a real go-to for me lately, especially during Oregon’s unpredictable afternoons. The slightly oversized fit is great—again, as a taller guy, it’s nice to have a shirt that doesn’t end up riding up or leaving my waist exposed. Plus, that oversized look is on trend right now, so it works out style-wise too. The waffle knit fabric is a winner; it’s made of 79% polyester, 12% lyocell, and 9% spandex, which makes it super comfortable with just a hint of stretch. It’s got this subtle glossy feel to it that makes it stand out from your average thermal shirt.
What really impresses me about this shirt is how functional it is. Despite being lightweight, it’s surprisingly warm, which makes it perfect for those chilly, windy days. The moisture-wicking and quick-dry properties are exactly what you need for outdoor wear, especially with Oregon’s drizzle. Whether I’m layering it under a jacket or wearing it on its own, it keeps me comfortable without feeling bulky. The embroidered chest logo is a nice subtle detail that keeps it from feeling too plain.
If there’s one thing I’d tweak, it’s the color options.
I’m into the Pelican Heather, but I wish there were more colors to choose from. It’s the kind of shirt I’d like to have in multiple shades, but the current selection is a bit limited. That said, the quality and comfort make it worth it, and I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up another if they added more colors. All in all, it’s a solid addition to the wardrobe—easy to wear, easy to care for, and versatile enough for everything from a hike to a casual night out.
Delano Jacket – $89.00
And finally, we got the Delano Shacket.
This piece really feels like it hits a sweet spot between rugged and refined. It’s made of 100% cotton canvas, and you can tell right away that the material is high quality—durable but with that broken-in feel right from the start. It’s got an oversized fit that’s great for layering, which is perfect when the weather here in Oregon turns chilly. What I like most about the fit is that it feels “pro” and mature without looking like I’m wearing something outdated or overly rugged—it’s a modern take on a classic style.
The details on the Delano Shacket are what make it stand out for me. The camo in stitching was an unexpected but welcome touch that gives it a bit of personality without going overboard. The antique brass buttons and the right chest zipper pocket add a functional yet stylish edge, which means it works as easily for dinner out as it does for layering up on a cold camping trip. I’ve worn it out on a few drizzly walks and layered it over a sweatshirt, and it’s kept me comfortably warm without being bulky. It’s definitely versatile enough to fit a range of situations—good for heading out to dinner, but also dependable for outdoor chores or just a casual day out.
My one critique, which isn’t as much a critique as it is just the nature of the jacket, is that it feels like it dries pretty slowly if you’re caught out in the rain like I did a few times (heck, it is Oregon after all). The denser material took longer to air dry than most other jackets that I have and I usually try to avoid just casually throwing some of this quality in the washer/dryer. Again, far from a deal breaker as it’s just what happens with this type of quality material! I just wanted to have this review be as honest as possible so I figured I’d mention it.
