San Diego’s annual Comic-Con event took place at the weekend, with Marvel revealing plans to reboot Blade.
The original Blade film, released in 1998 starring Wesley Snipes as the titular vampire hunter, was an early film hit for Marvel. On top of comic book fans, it found an audience in dance music fans thanks to an iconic opening scene at an acid rave where blood sprays from sprinklers on the ceiling.
Mahershala Ali will star in the lead role of the reboot, so thankfully no attempts have been made to whitewash the character, which the studio behind the original film reportedly considered.
No more details have been announced by Marvel. The reboot could be a film series again, or it could be planned to feature on the small screen on the Disney+ streaming platform.
