Lost Lands took place this past weekend, and was plagued with a handful of issues. While the first days of the festival seemed to go off without a snag, but the closing days of the 4 day bass extravangaza were plagued with rumors of a high count of deaths on festival grounds.
Rumors Spiral, Lost Lands Waits To Address
These rumors took off on social media. Some were confirmed by family members. One women posted a picture of her husband from their wedding at Electric Forest, explaining he had passed away at the festival this weekend. As the rumors continued to build on social media, Lost Lands focused on the approaching tropical depression of Hurricane Irene.
Lost Lands Responds To The Claims
Now with the festival grounds closed, and attendees home, Lost Lands has released an official statement announcing the passing of two fans. The cause of death is still unknown. While social media has immediately pointed to fentanyl as the culprit, the intense heat in Ohio this weekend means that normal drug consumptions could have very well turned deadly without the help of adulterants.
Many instances on Twitter also note that apparent someone was struck by a vehicle. It is important to remember that many of these claims are still unsubstantiated. For this reason, we have only included the offical statement from the festival in this post. Regardless of how many ultimately passed away this weekend. Any deaths is far too many.
Be Safe, Watch Out For Each Other
Be safe out there everyone. Test your stuff if you choose to indulge, look out for each other, and above all – stay hydrated. Even uncut narcotics can easily become deadly when purity levels are high, and the sun is blazing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the individuals who passed away this weekend.
