Whether it was the surprise Hilary Clinton cameo or the lack the most-popular music in the main show, the 2018 Grammys dropped significance amongst viewers. Regardless the actual reason, the 60th annual Grammy Awards lost its ratings and viewers this past year.

According to a report at Deadline, the 2018 Grammys saw 19.81 million people tune in to watch “music's biggest night.” This number is down 24% from the 2017 Grammys and the worst that the Grammys have performed since 2009. Compare this to the 59th annual Grammy Awards which ended up with a 7.8/22 rating and a total 26.04 million viewers.

On the contrary though, last night's Grammys was the most watched primetime entertainment show since last year's Oscars. It is also the second-highest record day for new CBS All Access signups.

Will the Grammys work on featuring dance music in the main show next year? Will the Grammys award some the year's most popular songs from the past year instead “playing it safe?”
