From September 24 to 30, Gilles Peterson will host an event in aid of local charity Safaplace.
Throughout the week a pop-up shop called Look Up at Edwards Lane Gallery in Stoke Newington will sell a selection of books, artwork and records curated by Gilles.
The DJ has also selected guests for in-store interviews with the likes of Goldie, Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy and Dave Haslam. Nearby venue The Old Church will feature performances from artists such as Jordan Rakei and Yazmin Lacey.
A closing party will round off the event and takes place at Five Miles in Tottenham with Daphni and HAAi on October 4.
All of the proceeds from the pop-up store and ticket sales will be going straight to Safaplace, which launched after two Stoke Newington students took their own lives last year. The charity aims to support the positive mental health and wellbeing of students in Stoke Newington School and the wider community, with the aim of discovering best practice which could be adopted in other schools.
