Lauren Mayhew has been exploding on the East Coast scene, catching a ton of attention for her vibrant, upbeat, and energetic style. She splits her time between Tampa and New York City, pulling inspiration from both places into a unique and one-of-a-kind sound. This distinct style really shines through in her latest track, “Feels So Right,” which is out now on Storm Music Group.
The song, a collaboration between Lucky GUESS and Lauren Mayhew, was put together almost entirely via Zoom and file sharing. It perfectly embodies modern musical collaboration and taps into a vibe that couldn’t have existed in past generations.
“Feels So Right” is a humorous take on late-night fast food cravings and has been featured on some of the top local news stations along the East Coast. To celebrate the release and the momentum she’s building in her career, we’ve invited her on to talk about how she pulls inspiration from her local cities, how the music video came together, the impact of getting covered on local news stations, and so much more.
So let’s dive into the interview.

So, Lucky GUESS originally sent me a wetransfer folder of 6-8 tracks. This one just stuck out to me. The rhythm was infectious.
2 – What’s your relation to the DJ du Lucky Guess? How did you meet and have you worked together in the past?
I actually met Lucky GUESS through an LA-based music producer named Nick Warner that I used to create viral Youtube videos with. I told him I was in the market of finding another DJ/producer to work with on a new dance track.
This is one of the things I love about our technology these days. I am connected to DJs all over the world that I would never have the chance to meet otherwise. Tom and Sam (Lucky GUESS) live in Indianapolis, and even though we DID get to meet when I headlined at INVY nightclub, we had created the entirety of “Feels So Right” previously via Zoom calls and sending files back and forth.
3 – How much creative say did you have in the music video of the track? What did you want the visual element of the song to deliver or what story did you want it to tell?
100%. haha I essentially produced the video from hiring the camera crew and editor, to shooting at my home in Florida, to collaborating with VIP Exotics (an exotic car rental company that rents out Lambos, etc), to utilizing all my gorgeous girlfriends who starred in the video.
But just like with every piece of creative content, the end is influenced by EVERYONE involved, and it takes on a life of its own. The original concept may have started with me, but it was a team effort. 🙂
So, actually my boyfriend came up with the concept. He has a bad habit of ordering fast food Uber Eats post-midnight and SERIOUSLY regretting it the next day. I thought that would be a really fun twist for the video to portray. The ‘pizza eating’ close-ups of the girls are by far my fave scenes in the video!
4 – “You and the “Feels So Right” music video were recently featured on ABC Action News! What was that experience like and what were the biggest takeaways about sharing your music on such a big platform?”
It’s always an honor to have an amazing morning show invite me on and tell the world about my latest musical creation. The hosts on the show are true pros, which makes it easy.
Previously, I used to be an On-Air correspondent for “Access Hollywood” on NBC, so I have a lot of respect for their job and the prep it takes to create a great interview.

I love splitting my time between Tampa and NYC. Tampa is my hometown, and has my heart because it’s where my family is. It’s also growing substantially, and I feel like I’ve really been able to make a mark on the music scene here. However, NYC is magic. The energy, the people, the performance venues… it’s hard to beat!
