Isaac Palmer’s trajectory is hard to ignore. His recent North Coast Music Festival set not only captivated the crowd but also led to a collaboration with 1001 Tracklists, where Palmer shared unreleased IDs from his performance.
He is experiencing another massive year, thanks to the success of his track “Never Us,” co-written with Menew & Dzeko. With six weeks on the Mediabase and iHeartRadio dance charts and four weeks on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, the song became a summer favorite, dominating U.S. dance radio.
Additionally, Palmer has been steadily putting his own spin on some of the biggest current hits, working with HOLMS on flipping Central Cee & Lil Baby’s “BAND4BAND” & Camila Cabello & Lil Nas X’s “He Knows,” gaining traction on SoundCloud and Hypeedit charts.
We had the opportunity to dive deeper into Palmer’s exciting year so far and what’s ahead. Check it out below!
You’ve recently had a big summer with “Never Us” charting on Billboard and other platforms. What was the creative process like working with Menew and Dzeko?
It was great working with both of them! I had a few zoom sessions working on the track and it was very fun. So crazy to see the reactions for the song and to see it chart on Billboard, iHeart, Mediabase and others. Very proud of this one 🙂
During your North Coast Festival set, you shared several unreleased tracks. Was there one that stood out as a unique moment when you played it?
Very tough question, I’d have to say probably Hustlin’ or Sexyback. I’ve been so stoked about those 2 in particular and excited to play them out at a big festival.
What do you look for when choosing a track to remix?
I look for a song that is extra popular or hot, and something that I think I can create a new energy around and still make it special. Whenever I remix I try to produce a version that is completely different and fresh from the original tune.
How does a festival performance at North Coast compare to prepping for sets at iconic venues like Wet Republic?
North Coast was a wonderful vibe! There is something special about Vegas and being to play on a stage where the biggest A-List DJs get to play. I do feel there is a huge difference with festivals and clubs. I love playing festivals but there is something about clubs that I feel more connected with the crowd. It’s easier to make eye contact with people in the club as its much more intimate.
What a bucket list festival for you?
Lollapalooza Chicago…no explanation needed haha
What’s next for you this year?
More music! Have a lot of cool original tunes I’m working on releasing and some remixes as well! Very excited to put out the new stuff. This year I’ve fully been loving what i’m making and releasing so very excited to pump out some new music.
