In what seems to be an endless summer, September is still hot and jam packed with even hotter disco and funk, plus some more chill tracks that are beach/poolside ready. Whatever your mood, this chart will scratch that itch and then some!

Save The Robots – Throw [Soulful Evolution]
Save The Robots are bringing some old-school funk forward on “Throw”, an invitation to throw down on the dancefloor. Producer Robbie Dunne is busy putting his stamp on more upcoming music in October, so expect to hear more disco and funk from this artist soon!
Purple Disco Machine – Paradise feat. Metronomy [Columbia Records]
Three+ years in the making, Tino Piontek aka Purple Disco Machine is back in a big way with his full-length LP Paradise. Chocked full of star talents like Chromeo, Jake Shears, Lorenz Rhode, Nile Rodgers, Roosevelt, and more, PDM is leaning heavily on his early 80s synth and new wave influences, while giving us tidbits of disco flair. Metronomy delivers the perfect falsetto on the opening track “W.T.P.”, inviting us into the world of Purple Disco Machine.
Ladies On Mars – Bodytalk [Feverball]
Ladies On Mars is one of the hottest and most in-demand producers in the nu-disco scene. “Bodytalk” is the first teaser single from his upcoming LP (release date TBD), and if this track is any indication of what’s coming, be prepared to have a good time! The vocal is soulful and sexy on this jam and pairs perfectly with the thumping bass. Turn this up and make your body talk!
Lost Masson – Groovy Flavour [Sundries]
“Groovy Flavour” opens with some old-school gospel harmonica and then launches into pure 70s disco. Lost Masson is not new to music production, so when the stars aligned and opportunity knocked, he was ready to showcase his own productions. This won’t be the last you will hear from this talented artist!
Michael Franks – When Sly Calls (DoctorSoul Don’t Touch That Phone Extended Re-Therapy) [Too Slow To Disco]
Michael Franks has released some of the most lyrically inventive music since the early 70s in the jazz world, and now DoctorSoul is bringing Franks’ music to a new audience of listeners with his rework of “When Sly Calls”, a yacht disco reimagining of the track that was approved by Franks himself. The lyrics are classically cheeky and this rework is made for a perfect poolside afternoon!
Duck Sauce – Fallin’ In Love [D4 Dance]
I am “Fallin’ In Love” with the latest release from Duck Sauce! Electronic music legends A-Trak and Armand Van Helden continue to surprise with fresh sounds. You can clearly hear both artists vision in the song, with A-Trak’s glitchy, tech-forward approach mixed with Van Helden’s classic house sounds. Together, there artists have created a delicious nu-disco treat!
Joel Sarakula – Loved Up [Legere Recordings/Fat Beats]
Australian native Joel Sarakula has made a career of channeling 70s soft rock sounds. He looks and dresses the part, and “Loved Up” is giving me all of the vintage yacht disco mellowness I could hope for. The funky synths mixed with some light, breezy, harmonized vocals are all you will need to get you in the mood for a groovy evening.
Amber Mark – Won’t Cry [Jasmine Music Limited]
Amber Mark is known primarily as an R&B/Soul singer, but in the process of working on her new album, she had a few tracks with a dancier vibe, and those tracks are going to be released on her upcoming EP Loosies. “Won’t Cry” is a pure disco gem. Mark had this to say about it’s production: “Going out dancing has always been a way for me to let go, and “Won’t Cry” is the soundtrack to that feeling. It may be a little cliché, but sometimes you just gotta sweat out the drama and leave the mess on the dance floor while looking cute doing it.” Indeed!
Husky – Hold Me feat. Rona Ray (Husky’s Beach Club Mix) [Bobbin Head Music]
Aussie producer Husky has taken on the remix duties for his track “Hold Me” featuring the seductive vocals of Poland’s Rona Ray. Beach Club is the perfect way to describe the mix, as it sounds like something you want to hear while sipping cocktails and grooving under a beach cabana. The track may sound like summer, but this one is going to be hot year-round! Check out the equally excellent Art Of Tones remix!
Duke Dulwich – Dove (I’ll Be Loving You) feat. Venessa Jackson (Discotron Extended Remix) [Tasty Recordings]
If you’ve been around long enough, you might remember Moony’s original version of “Dove (I’ll Be Loving You”. Duke Dulwich and Venessa Jackson have given their remake more of a true disco feel and Discotron‘s remix is even more dancefloor-ready. Jackson’s vocal is smooth, and lovely, and floats over the funky bass and percussion. The strings break up the vocals nicely and solidify the disco feeling.
Final DJs – Future Funk Phenomenon [Rossa Corsa Records]
Fourteen years into his career, Final DJs is back with a new seven track LP called Analog Dreams. Each track has a distinct sound, but the standout for me is “Future Funk Phenomenon”, a bass-driven jam packed with congas and hand claps, layered with Final DJs signature synths. The vocalist has an almost Shirley Bassey tone to her voice, and the end result is a great nu-disco tune to add to your collection!
Russell Small – Good Woman feat. Suki Soul [Russell Small Music]
If you don’t know the name Russell Small, then you will probably know him as one half of Freemasons. Small has been producing music for three decades and has just dropped his full-length LP Earworm. The LP is packed full of house and disco tracks, inluding “Good Woman” and a sophisticted vocal by chart favorite Suki Soul. The track is classic disco and the album is very much worth a listen!
Luke Delite – Things Will Get Better feat. Michelle Weeks [Tropical Disco Records]
“Things Will Get Better” is a huge reminder to the world that we have to believe things WILL get better, and our actions matter. Luke Delite is a true disco junkie and you can hear that in details like his dedication to live strings on his productions. Michelle Weeks‘ vocal delivery is like going to church. Tom Noble presents House of Spirits – Please Take Me There [Razor-N-Tape]
“Please Take Me There” sweeps you into disco bliss from the opening strings and takes flight when the female harmonies kick in. Tom Noble is a crate digger and knows his disco and boogie from his years of owning a record store, so expect nothing less than disco brillance from him!
Ursula 1000 – I Like Your Style [Ursula 1000]
Ursula 1000 (Alex Gimeno) has been releasing highly stylized, vintage influenced music since 1998, and his most recent track “I Like Your Style” is full of retro boogie swagger, sounding just as fresh as the day he started producing music. This song is a great example of how many genres of the last 40 years he can cut into one song seamlessly!
