That time of the year has come around again for Liquicity to release their Galaxy of Dreams compilation, an announcement that festival season is right around the corner. With Liquicity’s own festival coming in a few months July 20-22, this compilation is a great teaser to get fans excited. Both the lineups at the upcoming festie and the roster on the third installment of this compilation are quite diverse and the tracks themselves on this year’s Galaxy of Dreams really represent what Liquicity is all about: liquid.

Each track on this album is the the artists’ interpretation of what liquid drum and bass is to them, and “Long Summer,” Ekko & Sidetrack’s offering, is no exception. The track is definitely representative of the veteran production team’s style, with lots of steppy, amen-inspired drums which are sort of halfway between jungle and drum and bass. That genre-straddling sweet spot is what Ekko & Sidetrack are known for hitting so well, but they’ve paired it with Reija Lee’s bright, bell-clear vocals in a sort of pop composition structure. The synths are sparse here and either follow Lee’s vox or move with the beat. Said synths are melodic and ravey, complimenting both the vocals and the old school jungle drums.

“Long Summer” ebbs and flows, travels and soars with its mix of beautiful, wistful melodies but it also gives a great jungle punch in the drums. It will be a wonderful track for sunrise sets during festie season, not to mention just driving with the top down or watching a sunset over the ocean. It will definitely have ravers and festival-goers hoping for a “Long Summer.”

Galaxy of Dreams 3 releases on Liquicity on Monday, April 23 and also features tracks from Maduk and Dennis Pedersen, Remeses B and Polygon, just to name a few.
