“Had a lot of fun working on a big project again. 20 records and we could play each and everyone of them in a DJ set.” That mindset sits at the center of JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC, Yellow Claw’s 20-track return to the sound that built their movement. Out now on Barong Family, the project is a full-force dive back into trap—loaded with heavy 808s, distorted basslines, and drops designed for maximum impact.

The idea came from looking backward as much as forward. Revisiting older trap records, the duo found that the energy—and the connection fans had to it—never faded. “Those songs stood the test of time,” Nil explains, pointing to both the impact of the 2014–2015 era and the memories tied to it. That realization sparked the direction for a full-length project, even pulling in unfinished ideas from years past to complete the vision.

For Yellow Claw, it goes beyond sound. It’s about how they communicate. Jim shares, “I still really believe in the idea of sharing a body of work with the fans that have been with us for so long. I know everything is vlogs and TikTok and funny videos now, but this is how we do it. If the next 6 months our vibe is German schlager music, expect us to drop 10 brand new tracks that make you go and iron your brown short leather pants like you’ve got a bratwurst in the pan that’s ready to go. The coolest thing is that after all these years, our fans will be like; damn this is interesting, I’m gonna check it out and see what they have been up to. So yeah, to the people out there listening; have fun with it, listen to it in the car or the club or while you’re making love to your loved one. Especially Lucid, I advise as an erotic banger.”

In a landscape driven by short-form content, the duo doubles down on the album format as a way to capture a moment in time—20 tracks that reflect their current energy, delivered directly to the people who’ve been there from the start.

That energy is immediate from the jump. “Lucid” featuring Aida Sofia opens with a hypnotic tone before the album quickly shifts into harder territory. Tracks like “LUV” and “Take It All” hit with no-frills trap intensity, while “Keep Your Hands Up” with ARMNHMR brings peak-hour force. On the darker side, “Deep In The Underground” and “Out Of Focus” lean into rolling sub-bass and underground textures, balancing out the high-impact moments.

Elsewhere, “Oblivious” and “At Night” slow things just enough to let melody breathe, while cuts like “Touch It” and “Max Damage” are built for mainstage release. “Trap Anthem” stands as a direct callback—distorted, stomping, and rooted in the era that shaped the genre’s global rise. Through it all, JESUS LOVES TRAP MUSIC plays like a full-circle moment. A project built from both nostalgia and intention, grounded in the same culture that’s defined Yellow Claw from the beginning—community, energy, and the shared experience of the dancefloor.
