Third Culture, the collaborative project of Sian and Sacha Robotti, is back with a wild, genre-bending single, “She’s Evil,” featuring the powerhouse talent of Hiroko Yamamura and a killer remix from none other than DJ Minx. This isn’t just a typical house or techno release; it’s an edgy, floor-shaking track that’s as playful as it is dark.
“She’s Evil” hooks you right from the start with a gritty bassline and chopped-up vocals that twist and turn, keeping listeners on their toes. Hiroko’s influence is front and center, bringing a raw, no-holds-barred vibe to the mix. And then there’s DJ Minx—Detroit’s own First Lady of Wax—who delivers a remix that’s all about those deep grooves and punchy rhythms, adding an extra layer of depth and texture. The result? Two versions of a track that are bound to turn heads and shake up dance floors worldwide.
“We came up with this idea together, wanting to go completely left-field and create something fresh,” explains Sian of Third Culture. “We wanted to reflect our twisted sense of humor and darker aesthetics, but still make it playful enough to rock a diverse dancefloor. The vocal says it all; it’s about throwing shade with attitude. DJ Minx has always been a legend to us, and she added this crazy, funky twist that made it all come together.”

Third Culture’s Rise to the Spotlight
Third Culture is more than just a name—it’s a celebration of Sian and Sacha’s eclectic backgrounds and global influences. Sian’s Irish-Spanish roots and Sacha’s German-Italian heritage merge seamlessly into a sound that’s as diverse as it is cohesive. From their early days of putting out tracks on Drumcode and Sci+Tec to dropping EPs on Solomun’s Dynamic label, Third Culture has carved out a niche for themselves as innovators in the underground scene.
Their music is all about breaking boundaries and pushing the envelope. And it’s clearly paying off. After releasing two EPs on Dynamic, which gained support from heavyweights like Maceo Plex and Camelphat, the duo went on to perform at sold-out shows, including opening for Solomun in Los Angeles. 2023 has been just as explosive with the release of a new EP on Maceo Plex’s Lone Romantic label and more to come.
Hiroko Yamamura: Chicago’s Techno Queen
Hiroko Yamamura brings a whole new level of intensity and expertise to the project. Named one of Chicago’s top 10 DJs by XLR8R, Hiroko’s sound is rooted in the city’s legendary Warehouse days but shot through with industrial and punk influences. Her music is a love letter to the machines that make it possible—every patch cord, circuit, and synth.
Having toured the globe, Hiroko has become a staple in the Midwest’s rave scene, performing everywhere from Detroit’s Movement Festival to Berlin’s underground clubs. Her sound is all about blending the familiar with the unexpected, and her collaborations with other techno mainstays like Seth Troxler and Kate Simko speak to her versatility and creativity.
“She’s Evil” is the latest in a series of releases that show Hiroko’s growth as an artist. Whether she’s dropping tracks on Trax Records or spinning at legendary spots like Spybar, she’s constantly pushing the boundaries of what techno can be.
DJ Minx: Detroit’s First Lady of Wax
DJ Minx has been a pillar of Detroit’s house and techno scene since the ‘90s. From founding the Women On Wax collective to being honored as one of Mixmag’s “20 Women Who Shaped Dance Music History,” Minx’s influence extends far beyond the DJ booth. Her music is known for its deep, minimal grooves, but she’s never been afraid to mix it up and explore funkier, more experimental sounds.
“She’s Evil” gives Minx the perfect platform to showcase her decades of expertise. Her remix is a testament to her ability to reimagine a track without losing its essence. She infuses it with her signature sound while adding new elements that make it feel fresh and exciting.
In recent years, Minx has also been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, using her platform to raise awareness and support. Her “Purse First” single, released during Pride Month 2021, donated proceeds to Detroit’s LGBTQ+ center, showing that she’s as committed to her community as she is to her craft.
A Dancefloor Essential
“She’s Evil” is a track that’s sure to resonate with dance music fans around the world. It’s gritty, funky, and packed with personality, showing off the unique talents of Third Culture, Hiroko Yamamura, and DJ Minx. As Sian puts it, “We wanted something that would stand out and really capture the energy we’re all about. And that’s exactly what we got.”
With each of these artists pushing their own boundaries and breaking new ground, “She’s Evil” isn’t just a track—it’s a movement. Whether you’re in a dark, sweaty club in Berlin or catching a set in Ibiza, this one’s bound to get the crowd moving. Expect to hear it popping up in DJ sets and playlists across the globe as Third Culture continues to make their mark on the electronic music scene.
