Okay, okay, I know I’m a little late to this party, but it’s been busy behind the scenes over here at Magnetic.
But it also gave me a couple extra weeks to sit down and curate a list of the best organic hose tracks to have dropped last month. And trust me, this was much needed as my original list of tracks to consider numbering close to 30 absolute bangers, and parsing them down to only the best 15 was no easy task.
We have obvious winners here from the likes of Tim Green and others, but there are also some fresher faces in the mix that I was more than stoked to stumble upon in my crate digging. So follow the playlist below to have all the biggest hits in one place, and then let’s get into chatting about these hit records.
Shimza, Maline Aura – Citadelle
Shimza is one of the best acts coming out of South Africa right now, and I’ve long been saying he’s the next Sun El-Musician-caliber megastar in the melodic afro house scene. And sure, while the track could be argued that it’s more farmhouse than organic house, the warm and swinging percussion checks a lot of boxes for any fan of the genre.
Add the vocals of Maline Aura to the mix, and you have one of the best, most emotional, sultry, groovy, organic house records to drop in September. It’s a must-listen, without a doubt.
Naag – Liugin (El Mundo & Zazou Remix)
I’ve followed Naag for a minute now, having always been attracted to his slower and more groovy-leaning organic house tracks, but this remix takes all the vibes to a whole new level and is a picture-perfect example of how a track and the producers behind it can be greater than the sum of their parts.
Kora (CA), Wuachuma – Isocèle
Kora is certainly a familiar face on the list of the best organic house tracks, and his latest track, “Isocèle,” continues that momentum alongside an artist named Wuachuma.
Lush and warm percussions pair super nicely with the sliding bass line to create a groovy and driving track that hits.
Spieltape – Farewell
Spieltape has been on my radar for years now and is usually a top contender for my lists of the best organic tracks to drop each month but always seems to be left on the cutting room floor by just an inch or two but “Farewell” easily and finally earns him a spot on this monthly roundup with its delicate daytime melodies, bobbing low end and listful vibes that lock you in, listen after listen.
T.Picker – Waves on the Sand (Pinkowitz Remix)
Pinkowitz is a new name on my radar, but when Waves on the Sand came across my desk, it was an instant hit. With this release, Pinkowitz certainly picked up a new and true fan. Masterful songwriting, near-perfect sound selection, and drum mixing all to match make for a tune that begs to be on repeat.
Temza – Kaku
There are lots of bendy synths in this month’s roundup, but Temza’s track, with its stuttering synths atop more sliding and warbling melodies, finally underpinned by a world-inspired vocal sample, has all the pieces in place to be a recipe for success. This release is probably more on the proggy side of things, but none the less, it was one of the standout releases to come on my radar throughout last month.
Mx Cartier, Lura – Oh Na Ri Na
Afro House certainly seems to be the hottest genre on the block right now. Since we don’t have a dedicated Afro House chart, at least not yet, this track will just have to fit into the organic house family for now. It’s got warm and rolling percussion, chanting vocals, and lighter synths that underpin all the rest. Plus, its more laid-back tempo means it just slaps in the chillest and most welcoming way.
Adam Husa, Fuentes (CA), Marsellio – The Fall (Soul of Zoo Remix)
One of my favorite things about compiling these charts is scouring the internet and looking for the best music that’s dropped recently. While that often means the heavy hitters of the genre get a lot of support, it’s always fun and exciting to discover just how many completely new faces I get to discover. Soul of Zoo is a new name on my radar as well, but this remix is a complete masterclass in organic house production. I will certainly be getting more tabs on this artist moving forward.
Etza – Vivo
Etza doesn’t release music too often but has taken the quantity-over-quality approach to music. Every single tune that they release that touches the airwaves is pure gold and Vivo is just a continuation of that momentum. It’s got melodies for days, chill vibes all around, and some of the better drum mixing I’ve seen in a minute and it’s got my attention for more than a few listens over the last four weeks.
Alande – Silence
While I never try to judge a book by its cover, the artwork on this track caught my attention when I found it in some of my monthly playlists. The melodic and heart-string-pulling tune delivered on all the promises that the artwork made, as the visual and sonic aesthetics collided to create a really nicely packaged release that’s fun to look at and listen to. The soft, delicate pianos really stood out to me on this one, with the staccato synths on top helping push the momentum of the track forward. Bravo!
Lowtopic – What if
Organic house tracks can easily fall back on their expectations of acoustic instrumentation and formulaic arrangements. So when a track like this comes along, it catches my attention and stops me in my tracks. What If features heavy uses of synths and squelchy electronics but in a soft and palatable way typical of all of the best organic house music. It’s chill and melancholic, which is the perfect segue into the year’s colder months as we look towards fall.
Rebelski – The Sirens (Tim Green Remix)
There’s not much to say here. When Tim “The GOAT” Green drops a track, it’s almost instantly included. He’s a wizard, a magician, a genuine dude, and, not to belabor the point, the GOAT.
PIANIKA – Shy
This is another track whose drums really stood out to me with just how lush, warm, and punchy they were. The melodics and everything easily developed and expanded over the percussive foundations but the drums carried the track well over the finish line for me with this one and is something I have been studying in my own productions since this track came on my radar towards the middle of last month.
Lizwi, LEMITZ, A.S.O.M. – Lisan Al Gaib (Soul Engineers Remix Edit)
Classic, world-inspired organic house. Usually I shy away from Sitars in organic house music as it’s beginning to feel a bit on the nose for me with this genre but this track easily pulls it off, which I think has large part due to the melodic handoff it has with the soft-attacking synth which really turns this rolling organic house track into a soft-core rave anthem for daytime parties and beach sets in Malta.
