Word on the street says that ADE was a massive success and Drumcode went off without a hitch at their annual Awakenings party. Adam Beyer even commented on Drumcode radio about how spectacular this year’s edition was thanks to the lighting and production. For those of you lucky enough to attend, we are all very jealous. For those of us not so lucky to be there, we’ve always got the music at our disposal. And hopefully, my monthly column will satisfy your techno addiction.
A couple of different albums were the stars this past month. Including, the second edition of Soma’s SOMA NEU compilation. As well as, Recondite’s first album since 2022. Five tracks in all from the SOMA compilation and two from Recondite’s which I’ve stuck at the very top. Charlotte de Witte, Adam Beyer, and Eli Brown are also a part of October’s festivities. Press play and enjoy the party.
Follow all of the tracks to chart this year so far!
1. “TIDE” – RECONDITE [PLANGENT RECORDS]
Recondite‘s newest L.P., Indifferent stars this subdued beauty which may just be the least minimal of the eleven-track collection.
2. “RÁÕABRUGG” – EXOS [TRESOR RECORDS]
After about two decades deep into the techno universe, Icelandic producer, Exos crash-lands on Tresor Records with a handful of tracks that will blow your mind. The care and skill that have been used to craft these stellar bangers is evident upon first listen. And “Ráõabrugg” is the shining example in this month’s techno chart.
3. “VAIT” – RECONDITE [PLANGENT RECORDS]
On the other side of the coin, “Vait” demonstrates the harsher side of Recondite with less melody and more grit.
4. “FOURTH DIMENSION” – CHARLOTTE DE WITTE, MARION DI NAPOLI [KNTXT]
Charlotte de Witte‘s “Sanctum” is backed with “Fourth Dimension.” An emotive, yet driving, techno roller complemented by vocals worked into hypnotic, soulful loops. A warm welcome to an otherwise, cold and aggressive genre.
5. “THE FINAL CHAPTER” – ACIDBOY [INVOLVE RECORDS]
Ahead of his upcoming LP as ACIDBOY, Regal is letting go of this acid assault he calls, “The Final Chapter.” It’s the title track of said LP and it stands on top of acid mountain overlooking acid valley.
6. “TOOL OF THOUGHT” – ADAM BEYER [DRUMCODE]
Adam Beyer‘s “Tool of Thought” is a multi-layered, complex, percussive attack consisting of clacking beats, hissing hi-hats, metallic bass, and hoover notes creating an unsettling ambiance perfect for peak-time domination.
7. “FEELING TO THE BONE” – END TRAIN [SOMA RECORDS]
End Train’s “Feeling To The Bone” marks their third appearance on the legendary Soma imprint with this manic orchestration of static and distortion which is music to my techno ears.
8. “WALTZ IN LIMBO” – AGAINSTME [SOMA RECORDS]
Berlin‘s AgainstMe debuts on Soma with this masterclass of rhythm powerful enough to reset your equilibrium.
9. “21-45” – E.DN [SOMA RECORDS]
“21-45” b y E.DN is coming in hot with loads of claps and the occasional breakbeat fills that keep it interesting.
10. “MATTER X3” – MICHEL LAURIOLA [SOMA RECORDS]
Venezuelan producer, Michel Lauriola is back on Soma with this big and boisterous production that packs a ton of heat. Turn it up!
11. “SULPHER” – BRÄLLE [SOMA RECORDS]
Relatively unknown producer, BRÄLLE is responsible for this wormhole inducer they call, “Sulphur.”
12. “DON’T GO” – ADAM BEYER [DRUMCODE]
Hugh Masekela’s 1984 boogie anthem, “Don’t Go Lose it Baby” gets a modern interpretation for those of us that like it loud and cavernous.
13. “LET’S GO DANCING” – TIGA, AUDION, LAYTON GIORDANI [DRUMCODE]
Layton Giordani flips Tiga & Audion‘s decade-old anthem, “Let’s Go Dancing” on its head and DRIVES it home…
14. “GIVE ME ACID” – MARIE VAUNT AND A*S*Y*S [KURAI RECORDS]
Marie Vaunt’s Kurai Records hosts this very loud 303 outing with the acid master himself, A*S*Y*S.
15. “ESCAPE FROM PLANET MONDAY” – ELI BROWN, SARAH DE WARREN, LUSU [ARCANE MUSIC]
Eli Brown‘s latest adventure on his own imprint in this trance/techno fusion that’s coming to a winter warehouse near you.
