We also have a solid amount of melodic techno veterans on display for your sonic entertainment; check out our picks for September below.

Give The ‘Top Melodic Techno Tracks Of 2024’ Playlist A Follow And Keep Up With All The Latest And Greatest Releases From Labels Such As Afterlife, Siona Records, Armada, And More. The playlist includes every track from each monthly chart this year!

Andrewboy – Sueno [Steyoyoke Recordings]

Andrewboy has consistently landed tracks in our charts throughout 2024. Just when I started to think he can’t keep delivering melodic techno bangers, this acclaimed producer is at it again with “Sueno.” A staple in the Hungarian underground music scene, he has executed over 4,000 mesmerizing sets across his career. One listen to “Sueno” and it is evident how Andrewboy has maintained such longevity, Spanish for “dream” this tune is exactly that, boasting deep and melodic sounds that feel like a fantasy.

Zafrir – Tarang [ZAF Records]

Beginning his musical path as early as elementary school, Zafrir is a man of many talents, including DJing, making gripping productions, and the ability to play a variety of instruments. His background in guitar is evident in “Tarang,” encompassing chilling sequences of notes strung together. Using his passion for traditional ethnic music, Zafrir blends this modern electronic sound design for a spellbinding result with “Tarang” and in his entire catalog as well.

Daijo – In Control [OFF2 MUSIC]

Hailing from Canada, Daijo is definitely a rising artist to look out for in the melodic techno space. “In Control” weaves resonant percussion with an enchanting female vocal lead. The glue between these two components are riveting builds and expertly-crafted synth progressions that are guaranteed to have listeners enter uncharted sonic territory.

Goom Gum – Darkness [A Virgin Records]

Our well-deserved cover artist for September, Goom Gum has been absolutely on fire this year. Their signature style of melodic techno and progressive house never fails to take its audience on an adventure through sound and emotion. With support from the electronic music’s top artists, such as Solomun, Tale Of Us, Adriatique, CamelPhat, Deadmau5, and Adam Beyer, to name a few, it is no surprise that Goom Gum has ascended to become a staple act across melodic techno. “Darkness” fuses dreamy vocals with powerful chord progressions and atmospheric echoing effects.

Che Jose – Caged [F.T.F.T Records]

Sydney-based DJ and producer Che Jose has received significant recognition with four Top 100 Beatport charting tracks, including “Andromeda,” which reached #5 on the Progressive charts in 2022. His music has been supported by top artists like David Guetta, Tiësto, and Gorgon City, with releases on labels such as Armada, and Siona. Now, Che Jose is continuing to dominate his space in 2024, delivering hits like “Caged.” Beyond the powerful story that its lyrics tell, “Caged” has some really cool digitized sounds that Che Jose works in throughout.

Maison Ware – à tes côtés (by your side)

The lead single from Maison Ware’s five-track EP, Flaws In Design, “à tes côtés (by your side)” is the perfect start to this impressive melodic techno-based project. Also from Australia like Che Jose, Maison’s project is what you get when you bridge underground warehouse energy with prime-time on the dancefloor. While all the tracks are definitely worth listening to on the EP, the one we selected stands out for embracing what some may call “flaws.” Its arrhythmic plucks and variation in tempo pushes the boundaries of electronic production and simultaneously creates a psychedelic journey for listeners.

8Kays, Delhia De France – Human Nature [DGTL]

“Human Nature” is incredible on every level, from Delhia De France’s soulful vocals to the remarkable sound design. Both 8Kays and Delhia bring an artistic approach to every corner of their music, shaped by years of crafting their unique styles. Blending powerful techno with melodic, sound design-rich elements, “Human Nature” embodies a sense of innovation that is equally refreshing and danceable.

Kevin de Vries, Y do I – Saga [Afterlife]

“Saga,” the title song of Kevin de Vries and Y do I’s debut collaborative EP, is paired with equally mesmerizing tracks, “Part Of Me” and “Arrakeen.” What drew me to “Saga” is that it is the perfect hybrid between psytrance and melodic techno, sprinkling in elements from standard techno. There are different chapters within this song, and I love how Kevin and Y do I really take their time building anticipation in the breakdown with orchestral melodies and opera-based vocals. A chorus of violin and other strings tie the whole masterpiece together.

Bilgehan Ünver, Tomy Wahl – Underground Artist [JEAHMON! Records]

Bilgehan Ünver and Tomy Wahl are the epitome of the underground artists who produce absolute bangers in the melodic techno space, hence the name of this electrifying track. The drop in this track has the ability to blow out speakers and shake the floor of whatever club or warehouse it is being played in. One of the most alluring factors is the robotic-sounding vocals and distortion used on them. “Underground Artist” is released alongside “We Are All Connected,” another must-listen.

Bigfett – Takatum [MAHOOL Records]

Continuing the double-single release trend, Bigfett’s “Takatum” is paired nicely with its counterpart “Raya,” featuring Moonphazes. It has tribal chants that will certainly plunge you into the Amazon jungle or massive open-air venues of Tulum. This is the type of track that comes to mind when I think of a jaw-dropping Afterlife show, but it can also be played at a giant, fog-filled warehouse rave with no visuals and be just as effective.

VVILL – No Descanso [William Diaz]

Spanish and melodic techno may seem like an unlikely matchup, but take it from me, this combination rarely disappoints. This statement reigns true with VVILL’s “No Descanso.” Drawing inspiration for melodic techno icons like Argy, Anyma, and Massano, VVILL’s level of production is proving to be a dominant force in the space. “No Descanso,” meaning no sleep, is primed for the early hours of festivals and the club, to keep you moving as the sun comes up.

Deviu, Mira Nait – Snow (Aalson Remix) [Purified Records]

Our only remix on this month’s chart, Aalson transforms Deviu and Mira Nait’s “Snow” into a thrilling melodic techno anthem while still adhering to the amazing vocals that make the track so emotional and introspective in the first place. It aligns seamlessly with the majestic sound reflected by Nora En Pure’s esteemed label, Purified Records.

Aves Volare – Fearless [Chrom Recordings]

A crucial piece of underground label Chrom Recordings’ ADE 2024 sampler compilation, Aves Volare’s “Fearless” gives off a sonic atmosphere that sends its audience into a distant future. I love how Aves Volare uses a ton of different soundscapes, vocal samples, drums, and other instruments throughout this track, yet they all boil into one contagious melting pot of melodic techno. If you are on the hunt for underground bangers and rising artists, then check out the rest of this sampler, featuring artists DNCS, Messier, Paul Sawyer, and more.

Devault, Slayyyter – Behind The Wheel [Ultra Records]

Devault is not typically recognized as a melodic techno artist, but he is such an extremely versatile producer that this gem of a track comes as no surprise to long-time fans of his. Teaming up with hypnotic vocalist Slayyyter on this haunting cover of Depeche Mode’s iconic hit “Behind The Wheel.” After you enjoy this stunning track, make sure to check out the rest of Devault’s seven-song EP, Sensation, that it’s a part of.

Eran Hersh, Bermuda (NL) – Xhosa [Kitisuru]

Even though this is not a full melodic techno-leaning tune, “Xhosa” does include common sounds used in the genre. It is a cross between that space and Afro House, forged by talented DJ-producer hybrids Eran Hersh and Bermuda. This auditory marvel is impossible not to bob your head to, especially when the rolls of bongo drum kick in.
