Let’s slide into spring while listening to 15 of March’s hottest disco & funk tracks!

When we think about disco and funk music, it’s easy to think of the 1970s, but as educated listeners, we know how much these genres have expanded and melded together over the last few decades. Now, it’s not uncommon to hear house, acid, yacht rock, boogie, soul, and R&B all in the mix.

March’s top 15 tracks perfectly represent all of those influences, so turn it up, and let’s go boogie!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor – Relentless Love [Universal Music Operations Ltd]

Sophie Ellis-Bextor is ready for her disco close-up! If you followed her during the pandemic, the legendary singer livestreamed her Kitchen Disco concerts, priming her for her upcoming 2025 album, in addition to her resurgence in popularity due to the 2023 film Saltburn and its use of “Murder On The Dancefloor”. “Relentless Love” is pure joy, beckoning the listener to the dancefloor, where Ellis-Bextor shines the brightest. Check out her 2025 tour dates here.

L’Impératrice – Entropia [microqlima]

If you like surprises, the release of L’Imperatrice‘s “Entropia” is a good one! A full instrumental, harkening back to the band’s early days, this track is, dare I say, a true disco banger! When the track hits its disco stride, the song takes a turn into acid territory, and if you aren’t dancing out of your mind by then, you will be by the last third of the song! I recommend you play this on repeat!

Yuksek – Hypra-Sensorial feat. Paula & Voyou) (Bellaire Remix) [Partyfine]

“Hypra-Sensorial” can be found on Yuksek‘s latest Partyfine compilation Universalismo. This package includes tracks by Tigerbalm, Weekend Affair, Juveniles, and others, and one of the standout tracks is this remix by Bellaire. The blend of disco and world music gives the remix a fresh and modern feel. You can grab this compilation here.

Myd – Song For You [Ed Banger Records/Because Music]

Hey guys, Myd made a song to let us know he cares about you and wants to keep you grooving! “Song For You” is joyful, a little trippy, and utilizes a jackin’ funk rhythm that will move you directly to the dancefloor. Myd is making music focused on making you dance, so turn it up and shake your groove thing!

Fleur De Mur & James Juke – I Found The Love In Me [AOC Records]

Fleur De Mur has been very open on her Socials that she has been in recovery from a deep heartbreak, so to finally hear the result of her two-year-old collaboration with James Juke called “I Found The Love I Me” feels overdue, yet right on time! This has an old-school disco/house vibe and reminds me of the early days of Deee-Lite. I am looking forward to more of her work to come!

Caio Cenci – Business Of Love [The Disco Express]

Brazilian artist Caio Cenci has joined the mighty The Disco Express family with his stellar Business Of Love EP. The title track “Business Of Love” is a true standout, an instrumental tour de force, packed with jammy rhythm guitar, thumpin’ bass, and synths. No vocals are necessary on this track for this talented multi-instrumentalist!

David Bay – Fame [David Bay]

Since David Bay‘s opening spot on Purple Disco Machine’s 2024 tour, this talented artist has been giving us some terrific remixes for other artists. In March, we received the gift that is “Fame,” a slick little piece of nu-disco goodness. David Bay is ready to embrace a little fame of his own!

Kristoff MX – Get Up & Shout [Sundries]

Kristoff MX‘s “Get Up & Shout” sounds like a gentle breeze of disco. All of the elements of the song, the guitars, bass, vocals, strings, and percussion blend easily, with no part jumping into the spotlight. This is another track that should be on rotation on the beach, at the pool, and, if you are lucky, a day on a yacht!

Kapote – Doyum [Toy Tonics]

If you know modern disco, you know the legendary Toy Tonic’s Mathias Modica, aka Kapote. As part of the group that runs the label, the fact that he had time to make and release the full-length LP Para Mytho Disco is quite an achievement. “Doyum” has the purest disco sound on the record, but if you love house, electro, and disco, this record is for you!

lovetempo – Live Or Die By Love (Eric Kupper Remix) [toucan sounds]

Eric Kupper‘s remix of lovetempo‘s excellent house track “Live Or Die By Love” has a moodier, nighttime feeling than the original version. Floating the saxophone riffs in the background creates a distinctly ’80s vibe, creating a sexier disco/boogie feel. Creating remixes that honor the original while giving it a new spin is what it’s all about.

Anoraak & Yan Wagner – Drop Me A Line [Juliet Records]

In preparation for his new album, Anoraak has dropped the next single, “Drop Me A Line”, featuring the seductive vocals of fellow French artist Yan Wagner. Anoraak’s sound continues to evolve within the nu-disco genre, and his use of different vocalists has been a winning choice. I don’t know about you, but I am ready for this LP!

1-900 – Breakin’ 84 (Vibes4YourSoul Remix) [Too Slow To Disco]

New York artist 1-900 is a bit of a mystery, but what isn’t a mystery is how smooth the Vibes4YourSoul remix of “Breakin’ 84” is. This track gives daytime/nu-disco vibes, perfect for those easy, breezy beach days or cruising around in a convertible with the wind in your hair!

Khubos – Face Reality [Disco Freak Records]

Karabo Makhubo, aka Khubo‘s “Face Reality” has a vintage disco sound that is meticulously blended with hints of acid house, leaving you feeling a little trippy in a very relaxing way. “Put Down Your Digital World And Listen To Reality Around You Slipping Away” is the lyric, and I too, recommend doing this every once in a while.

Neil Francis – Can’t Get Enough [ATO Records]

Neil Francis is a renaissance man, a true devotee of all things 1970s. “Can’t Get Enough” is so smooth that you might almost miss the disco influence that weaves through the track via the gorgeous strings. Francis’s Return To Zero album takes you through the 70s, the singer-songwriter honoring the era’s soul, disco, and yacht rock while feeling right at home in 2025.

Poolside & Satin Jackets – Pull Together [Counter Records]

Tragedy often inspires creativity, and in the wake of the devastating California wildfires that resulted in Jeffrey Poolside losing his home and all of his belongings, Poolside and Satin Jackets have created the West Coast breezy nu-disco track “Pull Together”. The sound is a bit different than the last couple of Poolside projects, a rebirth of sorts. Disco never dies.
