Supertaste – Supernova (Jafunk Remix) [Supertaste Music]
If you are familiar with Supertaste‘s original version of “Supernova”, you know it has a chill indie vibe. Jafunk has injected the track with his signature disco bass, some light synths, and those beeps and pews he loves. If you like Parcels, then this track is definitely for you!
Anoraak – Magnifique feat. Julia Jean-Baptiste [Juliet Records]
Are you ready to go on a trip to the French Riviera? Anoraak is going to take you there with his sultry “Magnifique” featuring the breathy vocals of Julia Jean-Baptiste. This track is a perfect example of what modern Nu-disco has to offer. It offers an homage to the 70s heyday while sounding modern and radio-ready! Check this one out on Juliet Records.
Alex Cherney – 220 feat. The Brothers Nylon & Kendra Morris [Trialtone Laquer Inc.]
Alex Cherney and The Brothers Nylon have created 70s-inspired music for a few years. Their sound runs the gamut from soul to funk to yacht rock, and their new single “220” features the incomparable vocals of Kendra Morris, an old soul vocalist who adds a delicious layer of 60s girl group sweetness to the mix. This track ups the ante with layers of 80s synths and more of that 70s funk. It’s a complicated recipe that works.
Scruscru – Twilight Voyage [Blur Records]
Genre-blending musician-producer Scruscru is no slouch when it comes to infusing jazz influences into his tracks, and “Twilight Voyage” will take you on a chill trip to disco land. This song makes me want to slip into the cool of the evening into a secret club or chill on the beach listening to the waves. We get a full vacation experience in 5:55 minutes…let’s go!
Cliff Colada – Havin’ It Large [The Disco Express]
If you want a vibe, Cliff Colada‘s Ten Hours North EP will give you plenty! “Ten Hours North captures a sense of movement, change, and carefree moments,” says Cliff Colada. “It’s music for sunny days, open roads, and nights that don’t end.” “Havin’ It Large” evokes an open road with nothing but possibilities. This is another classic release from The Disco Express!
Paolo Bardelli with TonyMontana dj & Trisoglio- Get The Force And Do It (Nu Club Mix) [B Club Milano]
Paolo Bardelli, TonyMontana dj, and Trisoglio‘s “Get The Force And Do It” is a wonderful disco moment that takes you directly to the club where you can bask in the glory of the disco ball. The lyrics are simple and float in the background, letting the groove speak for itself! Like the lyric says, “Come on everybody, let’s party hearty”!
Jay Murphy – Boogie Oogie feat. Natalie Nova (Young Pulse Remix) [Funky French League]
Normally, I am not a huge fan of disco covers, but I am making an exception for Young Pulse‘s remix of Jay Murphy and Natalie Nova‘s version of “Boogie Oogie” because he essentially deconstructs the track and amps up the funk factor by 100! The bass is slapping and the added synths are hypnotic! This track is a total winner!
Stogov & Gilista – Sunset Mood [Sundries]
Sundries label has found a winning artist with Stogov, and his partnership with Gilista has produced the breezy, disco-infused track “Sunset Mood” The title evokes the feeling that you are going to be transported to a very chill place while listening. I would like to be sipping a cocktail by the water, watching the sunset while this track gently plays in the background. Perfection.
Leslie Lello – Space Jungle feat. Alex Fernet [Polyamore]
Italy’s Leslie Lello knows his way around a dancefloor and how to fill it, and on “Space Jungle” he employs the talents of fellow Italian Alex Fernet on guitar to add a little spice to the spacey disco vibe of the track. This track is too slow to be considered a banger, but the composition will absolutely keep you coming back for more!
Funk Hunk and SubRosa – So Deep [Spa In Disco]
Percussive and funky are the two words that spring to mind when describing Funk Hunk and SubRosa‘s “So Deep”. The track is unashamed to show off it’s blend of 70s disco and 80s RnB influences, with neither influence overwhelming the modern originality of the song. Check it out on Spa In Disco.
Winkar – Nasty [Decade Records]
Winkar is by far one of the busiest disco producers in the biz right now! “Nasty” was just one of the great disco tracks he released in January, and this one will get your party started right! The disco strings weave a beautiful tapestry of sound while the driving bass will keep your hips moving. If you don’t feel like getting nasty to this song, then you are doing it wrong!
Angelica De No – Gonna Get Over You (Spen & Thommy’s Classic Love Break Version) [Quantize]
For over 20 years Angelica De No has been singing in the electronic music industry. Her cover of France Joli’s “Gonna Get Over You” stays true to the original while featuring De No’s outstanding vocals. The Spen & Thommy Classic Love Break version adds a deeper funk feeling to the track, making it more of a reimagining of the track than a straight cover. It’s all very well done indeed!
Young Pulse – Love Addict feat. Fleur De Mur [Funky French League]
If this is what it means to be an addict, then sign me up! Young Pulse is the main act on his super funky disco jam “Love Addict”, featuring the captivating vocals of Australia’s Fleur De Mur. This track layers on the funky bass but leaves space for De Mur’s vocals to soar! Grab this steamy track on Funky French League.
Da Lukas – Doin’ Me Wrong [Groove Culture]
The first minute of Da Lukas‘s “Doin’ Me Wrong” is a slow burn, but you’d better strap in for the disco ride the track will take you on after that! The female vocalist is here to tell us that she needs to be treated right, and as a listener, this song is not doin’ me wrong!
Sebastian Emes with Roman Blum & Rona Ray – Disco Kitchen (Extended Mix) [Peppermint Jam Records]
“In the disco kitchen we are all equal” is the main hook of this track by Sebastian Emes and Roman Blum and it is the perfect message that we all need to be reminded of. Rona Ray‘s vocal is earnest and implores us to live through love and lead by example. We need this message now more than ever!
