Welcome back to the seventh iteration of this monthly chart, where we highlight and break down the top 15 bass music anthems. July’s selection encompasses a ton of Lost Lands 2024 headliners, including Levity, MARAUDA, ALLEYCVT, Of The Trees, and ATLiens, to name a few.

However, we also have brain-melting representation from fast-rising underground artists such as Canabliss, STAR SEED, CAPOCHINO, and Slang Dogs, reflecting experimental bass, wubs, dubstep, trap, riddim, and everything in between. Enter the realm of sonic experimentation as we shed light on various bass-powered anthems and their creators.

Follow our Spotify playlist below to keep tabs on all the tracks we have featured (currently at 105 bangers) in our bass music chart this year:

ero808 – MANSA MUSA [Boom.Records]

In addition to being the vocalist on hit tracks like “HEADSHÖT” and AYYBO’s “HYPNOSIS,” ero808 has proved to be a one-of-a-kind artist. His latest anthem “MANSA MUSA” is an intricate fusion of rap, hip-hop, and trap that will transmit vibes throughout your entire body. Mansa Musa was the wealthiest king in the history of the world, with his name literally meaning King Musa, since mansa was the word for king. This alludes to ero808’s rise to the top of the music world. The song is also coupled with a visually mesmerizing lyric video.

Saka, Of The Trees – Ghoul [Memory Palace]

Hong Kong’s renowned bass producer Saka teams up with bass expert Of The Trees for their collaboration “Ghoul.” Featured on Saka’s latest EP, Monomyth, this track delivers experimental stabs, laser zaps, and mystical forest atmospherics, encapsulating the peak of the hero’s struggle. It, along with. EP, weaves in influences from Saka’s Asian heritage and Hong Kong’s culture as a whole.

ALLEYCVT, Levity – ONE FOR YOU [Deadbeats]

North America’s bass music stars, ALLEYCVT and Levity, recently dropped their summer anthem, “ONE FOR YOU,” on Deadbeats. This track combines ALLEYCVT’s polished bass sound design and ethereal vocals with Levity’s raw energy and signature sine bass, resulting in a captivating synergy. Anticipation has been high since the duo first premiered the track during their back-to-back set at the Deadbeats x Cyclops show during Miami Music Week.

ATLiens, Dion Timmer – IMY [Space Cult]

Diving into the alien realm of bass music, “IMY” kicks off with signature extraterrestrial noises from ATLiens that sets the stage for chilling lyrics to take hold of the listeners. I really enjoyed that this track didn’t try to do overdo it with an extensive amount of layers on the bass side. Feels like Dion Timmer and ATLiens bridged their styles to have the perfect amount of drone-like synths and grimy dubstep progressions, while even blending in elements of future bass and psytrance.

Dirt Monkey, Cyclops – Flat Earth [19K]

Despite focusing on a lot of drum & bass over the past few years, Dirt Monkey returns with his wobble sound every so often to show his fans he’s still got it. This gem is somewhat of a sonic time machine, taking listeners back to the iconic Dirt Monkey albums like Primatology and Wubula. The cover art is a pretty hilarious graphic but unexplainably is the perfect fit for the track. I really enjoyed how the second buildup incorporated some DnB before plummeting back into a wub-overflowing drop.

Slang Dogs – Sub Zero [Independent Release]

Since making their debut in the underground bass scene in 2020, Slang Dogs has accumulated a dedicated fan base hungry for their melting pot of heavy trap and experimental bass. This has been a major breakout year for the pair, as they have dropped Magnetic Magazine charted tracks in previous months, including “Seething Eyes.” Now they are at it again with Sub Zero. When hearing this song, there almost seems to be an out-of-body experience as its hypnotic nature puts you in a trance.

Chef Boyarbeatz, Daggz – Open Your Mind [In The Kitchen Records]

Denver’s Chef Boyarbeatz brings an unparalleled perspective to underground bass production. The Icon Collective grad has earned recognition from both mainstream and underground elites with his nostalgic heavy breaks and UK-inspired soundscapes. With releases on Deep Dark and Dangerous, Deadbeats, and Bassrush, Chef Boyarbeatz elevates obscure sounds. With exponential growth in the studio and on stage, he’s performed at Infrasound, Okeechobee, and Insomniac’s Apocalypse, receiving support from Skream, Zeds Dead, and more. Teaming up with versatile artist Daggz, “Open Your Mind” certainly furthers his ascension to the top of bass music.

MARAUDA – PRIMAL PHANTOM [Malignant Music]

Even though these charts tend to put less of an emphasis on riddim and moreso on the entire spectrum of bass music, there are few tracks that come along that are impossible to resist. MARAUDA’s “PRIMAL PHANTOM” fits this bill. While the intro is not overbearingly intense, when the buildup kicks in, you know you are in for a rollercoaster ride of sonic chaos. The drop can be compared to MARAUDA opening the gates of auditory hell, unleashing skull-crushing riddim and screams onto his victims. This is primed for festivals like Lost Lands and Apocalypse, and is guaranteed to induce mosh pits.

Canabliss – Calamity [1645002 Records]

For those who have yet to come across her project, Canabliss is a breath of fresh air in the world of bass music. Her pink aesthetic is paired with beautiful but complex experimental bass production. “Calamity” marks her first official release since July 2023, a full year ago, however, the wait is completely justified based on the infectiousness of this track. Ironically, calamity means a disaster or even causing great damage or distress. This song is quite opposite, blessing bassheads with dreamy effects and expertly crafted wubs.

Capochino – You Make Me Wanna [Kannibalen Records]

Founded by Black Tiger Sex Machine, Kannibalen Records is one of bass music’s premier imprints, having signed artists such as Kai Wachi, Dabin, Apashe, and many more. Their ‘Kannibals at the Beach’ is a thrilled compilation series for up-and-coming artists to reach a wider audience. Kannibals at the Beach Vol. 3 does exactly that, featuring 13 tracks from artists like Dream Takers, Ruvlo, LVWZ, Rival, Wodd, and YMIR to name a few. Capochino’s “You Make Me Wanna” was our favorite of the bunch, blending captivating vocal phrases and echoes with hard-hitting snares and bass-infused trap.

CloZee, LSDREAM, LSZEE – SLAY [Odyzey Music & Heartwave]

From the first announcement of CloZee and LSDREAM’s collaborative project LSZEE, the electronic music space has been ecstatic to listen to the by-product of their two signature sounds colliding together. The result has been amazing, as referenced in June’s bass music chart which featured “CHRYSALIS” by the duo. “SLAY” is a cross-breed between Nintendo-like sounds, future bass, plus light and airy wubs. The cherry on top for this track is the stunning vocals that lay on the surface of the instrumental.

STAR SEED, Catlea, Suave – ANGEL [Ophelia]

Motivated by our mission to feature all facets of bass music across these charts, we delve into the softer side with “ANGEL.” Expertly crafted by STAR SEED, this track features angelic vocals from Catlea and Suave. It takes you on a journey across melodic bass music, overflowing with emotion and a dreamy sonic atmosphere. Accompanied by a stunning visualizer on YouTube, “ANGEL” is a suited exactly for a label with the reputation and sound of Ophelia.

Subtronics, Wooli – Hallelujah [Cyclops Recordings]

With two of the most celebrated artists in bass music uniting for “Hallelujah,” there is no doubt it is chalk-full with riddim chops and dubstep. Beginning with soulful vocals, that could be deceptive if you are not aware of Subtronics or Wooli’s projects, these lyrics are soon bridged with a background of grimy bass. The track rapidly builds up its ferocity before giving way to a progression of loud blaring noises and light snare hits. A dark voice calls out “devil,” then chaos is thrown down onto any listener in the vicinity of this headbanger.

Disrupta, Rudimental, Liam Bailey, BackRoad Gee, Scrufizzer, Shakes – Gone For The Night [Sony Music UK]

Given that it has bass in its name, and usually delivers loads of it on the heavier side of the genre, we are closing out July’s chart with two DnB bangers. Starting with “Gone For The Night,” this is a massive collaboration, featuring an array of producers and vocalists that each bring something special to the table. With drum & bass stars Disrupta and Rudimental at the helm of this track, they join forces with a hall of fame lineup of MCs that mesh extremeley well with the bassline.

Luude, Harry Bee – Fun in the Sun [No Instruction]

It seems only right to wrap up the chart with some absolute heat from legends-in-the-making Luude and Harry Bee. While Harry Bee is very new to the music scene, Luude has been on a roll since the turn of the decade, dropping chart-topping hits like “Down Under” and Pachamama” left and right. The sequence directly before the drop is the element that stand out the most to me, and I love hearing it being drizzled throughout the track. “Fun in the Sun” is a go-to workout jam or if you are trying to turn up the intensity in any setting.
