Shallou and Night Tales have teamed up to release their debut collaboration, “I Just Wanted To Dance,” out now on prominent label FADER. This track captures the essence of summer with its blend of 70s influences, a piano-driven bassline, and a catchy hook that promises to get listeners moving.

“I Just Wanted To Dance” previews Shallou’s upcoming EP, 24, summer. This collection reflects the music he crafted this summer, infused with the season’s emotions. While one track mirrors the disco-house energy of “I Just Wanted To Dance,” the other two take different directions. Each song on the EP will immerse listeners in new and unique soundscapes.

The partnership between Night Tales, known for their electronic-live performances, and Shallou, a leading name in the chill electronic genre, brings a refreshing take on disco-house music. The song features airy vocals and vintage effects, creating a nostalgic yet contemporary vibe perfect for summer parties and dancefloors.

Speaking on the creative process and inspiration behind the track, Night Tales shared, “We wanted to make a dance track that would unite people together without the allure of deep, lyric-heavy vocals. Our goal is for listeners to feel the intention immediately, through the sonic atmosphere and instrumentation, allowing themselves to get lost in feeling. This was an exciting and exploratory departure from the chill emotive sounds of Shallou, and for us, focusing more on the production and energy of the song with minimal vocals. The hook is simple and reinforces the sentiment of the track. This is only the beginning of our collaboration, so watch the disco-house space for future anthems from both of us.”

Shallou, born Joe Boston, has made a name for himself with his serene yet danceable productions and captivating live performances. His collaborations with artists like Daya, Elderbrook, Bob Moses, and Ashe, along with his frequent airplay on Sirius XM, have cemented his place in the electronic music world.

“I Just Wanted To Dance” sets the stage for Shallou’s upcoming EP, a reflective collection inspired by the essence of summer. While one track shares the disco-house energy of “I Just Wanted To Dance,” the other two diverge. One captures a laid-back, indie-beach vibe, and the other is an emotional anthem ready for festivals. Each song on the EP invites listeners to explore new and immersive soundscapes.

Diving into the production process of the collaboration with Night Tales, Shallou explained, “Night Tales and I met up to put together some ideas from scratch. We made a track that felt like a great combination of our styles, but we were pretty much done with the song and had the studio for a few more hours. I was a little tired and wasn’t sure anything would come from the rest of the time, but I just started messing around on piano and tracking some gospel-y ‘ooh’ vocals. We found a cool pocket and built out a pretty simple ‘drop,’ adding in vocal chops and house grooves.

Night Tales, comprising Aaron Bannie and Kamaliza Salamba, have built a solid reputation in the dance music scene with their deep house anthems and energetic live shows. Their debut album “Proof” and hits like “Only If” have garnered millions of streams, showcasing their ability to create music that resonates with a broad audience.

“I Just Wanted To Dance” is a testament to the combined expertise of Shallou and Night Tales, bringing together their distinct styles to create a track that embodies the spirit of summer. The song’s infectious rhythm and nostalgic disco-house elements make it a standout release, hinting at more exciting collaborations in the future.
