Exclusive Interview With GAZZI
Why do you think it’s important for artists to focus on developing their own sound rather than chasing trends?
In a world where tons of music is being released everyday, having your own sound is fundamental. I am not so into fashion, more into emotions thru music
Why do you think some artists get stuck in a certain sound, and how do you keep pushing your boundaries?
Maybe because of the pressure that comes with being in an industry where it seems like you need to release club music or hits to be part of a DJ circuit, to be taken seriously and all that.
What’s the biggest mistake you see other producers making when it comes to their creative process?
The biggest mistake I see in other producers is trying to imitate a trendy sound rather than seeking sounds or inspirations beyond what’s popular at the moment.
What do you think makes an artist’s music stand out in today’s crowded music industry?
Sadly, I think we’ve reached a point where social media has taken a toll on the electronic music scene, as promoters prioritize follower counts or brand collaborations over an artist’s actual talent or musical work. I see so many incredibly talented people struggling to get opportunities, while at the same time, I see influencers inflating their numbers and then calling themselves DJs.
More and more phones recording at parties, with sets that all seem to sound the same.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received from another artist or producer?
The best advice I can give to someone is to have no expectations. For me, making music was always something therapeutic, and I was lucky enough to turn it into a career—something I never imagined.
Make music from the heart and out of love for it. Listen to as much music as you can, and draw influences and inspiration from everywhere.
