After dropping a remix of Beije’s “Ecdysis”, which served as the third release on our label, we’re proud to welcome back Discognition with “De Leon”, his first original outing here on Magnetic Magazine Recordings.
The Denver-based artist has put together a spectacular organic-meets-progressive house track with loads of acoustic guitar, vocal atmosphere, organic percussion, and Latin flair. When asked about the track’s inspiration, Discognition said “I love writing tracks writing tracks that make me think about places I’ve been to. The town of De Leon holds some personal significance as it’s my girlfriend’s hometown, and it’s where her family lives. It brings up memories of happiness, relaxation, and reminds me of connecting a little deeper with someone you love.”
Discognition, also known as Chad Vasquez, has been rising through the ranks of the melodic house scene, with releases on Monstercat Silk, Sekora, Purified, and Enormous Chills. He’s also been playing quite a few shows in his home area: you can usually catch him playing sets in Denver, Salt Lake City, and Idaho Falls alongside major acts like Massane and Camelphat. In fact, he’ll be performing live at Your Mom’s House in Denver next Friday, the day that we officially unleash “De Leon” into the world. Needless to say, he’s an artist that you should be keeping an eye on in the coming months.
You can pre-order “De Leon” here, and make sure to come back next week for the full release!
