It is with great sadness that we have to yet again report another death. This past weekend at Firefly Music Festival, Caroline Friedman, a 20 year old woman, was pronounced dead at the campsite early Sunday morning. Her cause of death is still unknown.

Found unresponsive in Camping Lot 18 at Dover International Speedway around 6:30am, the Philadelphia resident couldn’t be revived by CPR from medical staff. ers have commented on the grim situation below.

Medics pronounced Friedman dead after bringing her to a local hospital a short while later. Authorities do not suspect foul play, but an autopsy and toxicology report will follow. Firefly issued the following sentiment: “We express our deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and friends of Ms. Friedman. We are fully cooperating with the Dover Police Department with their investigation of this morning’s event.”

Located in the heart of Dover, Delaware, Firefly Festival brings thousands of music lovers  to celebrate in the Woodlands. Major headliners this year included Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Arctic Monkeys, and The Killers. The four day festival also incorporates camping in the mix. It isn’t your typical festival; rather it was one weekend, one Woodlands, one community. But with all festivals, you never know what can happen.

It’s easy to get lost in the excitement of the forest. With a brewery, market, hammocks in trees, and world renowned DJs in an electric crowd, safety almost becomes irrelevant. Surrounded by friends and a cool environment, you feel invincible. We can sometimes forget to stay hydrated or take care in what we ingest. Unfortunately it was too late for one, but we can make sure this doesn’t happen again. Use the buddy system folks, it may just save a life.
