Notaker is the greatest thing to come out of St. Louis since the Toasted Ravioli. Today, the Midwestern producer released EREBUS I on Mau5trap. In case you have not noticed, Notaker has been quietly building his own space force! This is a follow-up EP to the successful release of The Vessel, a cosmic-themed EP released last year. EREBUS I is another futuristic adventure through space, brought to you by the mind of Notaker.
EREBUS I is a return to the cosmos for Notaker. The entire EP is heavily inspired by darker science fiction films. Right from the first track, Fatal System Error, you can feel the artificial intelligence one might expect from 1788-L, however, this has a little more vibe and less in your face bass.
Corrupted the collaboration with BlackGummy was the first single released from the EP, you can read its full coverage HERE.
The third track, Hypersleep, is a glitchy track that really took me by surprise in a good way. With odd timing and melodies that spin off into outer space, this track might be made more for self-reflection while on the drive home rather than dance floors but it is fun all together.
Machina is a collaboration with Eminence and may just be my favorite track of the bunch. Machina has a grittiness combined with the pure grove that you might find in an Oliver or Justice track. The driving bassline is pushed along by marching drums as this thumping song is the backbone of the EP in my humble opinion.
Believe closes out the journey with a dramatic cinematic buildup to a crescendo of sound and emotion only to gently fade away.
Notaker has been doing it all. Be it killing Monstercat stages with Tokyo Machine, crushing releases like this EP with Mau5trap, and if you ever wanted a watch him work on his track you should look up his Twitch. The world is finally realizing what an amazing artist Notaker is and I could not be happier. Listen to EREBUS I below.
