On Monday, UK based riddim producer MurDa dropped his new EP Riddim Drama on Never Say Die’s Black Label. The four song EP features 3 original tunes as well as a remix from labelmate Midnight Tyrannosaurus.
The album does an especially good job of capturing the eerie mysticism that’s become a staple of the genre. With mind bending drops that sound like Cthulu’s day of reckoning, the sound design speaks for itself. The song “Monster” seems to be the highlight of the album, scoring a remix from heavy weight Midnight Tyrannosaurus. Both tunes open with a sci-fi-esque montage over a dreadful soundscape. Suspense builds to silence until a single voice exclaims “Monster”. But it’s too late. The predator has already found its prey. What comes next can only be described as a massacre. It’s brutal. And it hits the spot perfectly. Both versions are pretty mind melting and I have a hard time figuring out which I like better. If your looking for a rush of adrenaline, look no further.
