Over the last several years, Lollapalooza has expanded from a Chicago festival into an international brand, hosting events annually across the globe. The newest edition of the series, set to occur this September in Bogota, Colombia, was to be headlined by Rihanna, with support from Disclosure, The Chainsmokers, and Lana Del Ray, among others.
Lollapalooza Colombia has canceled it’s inaugural showing, following Rihanna’s decision to not perform at the event. Rihanna cited concerns of contracting the Zika virus as her reason for relieving herself from the headlining slot.
Consequence of Sound reports: “In an issued statement, Lollapalooza organizers said they did not have enough time to find a replacement headliner. Ticket refunds are being offered…Organizers said they still hope to stage an event in Colombia in the future.”
