Following a massive 2022 which saw releases on three of Lee Burridge’s labels – All Day I Dream (ADID), TRYBESof and Tale & Tone – Jim Rider continues to build momentum, releasing his Two More Days EP on ADID. This EP showcases Jim’s expertise in crafting uplifting melodies across the four original tracks.
Inspired by a two day long train journey across the United States, the EP’s title track is a lengthy journey through multiple soundscapes. The track features dreamy synth notes, arps, and a wide variety of percussive elements- sounds which were staples of Jim’s DJ sets this past year. There’s no dull moment in the eight minute track, as Jim’s ability to manipulate synths while simultaneously keeping true to his organic roots with a percussive bed of cowbells, congas, and tambourines inject excitement throughout. The mystical and soothing feel of the synths and ambient vocals throughout ‘Two More Days’ is perfectly contrasted with the final phrase, which is bouncier, more aggressive, and carried by an unfiltered bass lead. It’s no surprise that ‘Two More Days’ is by far Jim’s most requested ID to date.
Another standout from the EP is ‘Hairy Mary’s Apothecary’, which tells the tale of a young girl who is completely covered head to toe in hair until a magical fairy saves the day. Jim Rider demonstrates his incredible talent, blending spacey synths with organic and ethnic soundscapes. This creative, joyous, melodic gem completes a triumphant return to the label.
Throughout the EP, Jim’s smooth synths and mystical arps are so potent and memorable that they paradoxically cause you to feel lost in time- a truly remarkable sensation.
Following the recent ADID release, Jim Rider shares, “Absolutely buzzing to announce my second summer as resident for All Day I Dream in Ibiza. You can catch me every Thursday alongside familiar ADID faces and some brand new guests. A huge thanks to Lee for having me back. Get me on that island immediately!”
