Instagram has begun using pop-ups to warn against DJ live streams featuring copyrighted music.
As DJ Mag reports, a notification telling the user to stop broadcasting copyrighted music is flashing up during streams. Streams are then muted or taken down if the user does not comply.

In a blog post on May 20, Instagram wrote: “These notifications are intended to alert you when our systems detect that your broadcast or uploaded video may include music in a way that doesn’t adhere to our licensing agreements.
“Updates include making notifications clearer and surfacing notifications earlier to live broadcasters, to give people time to adjust their streams and avoid interruptions if we detect they may be approaching our limitations. And if your video is muted or blocked, we’ll make it clear what actions you can take to stop the interruption.”

Instagram has also pointed out that free to use music is available from Facebook’s Sound Collection, encouraging streamers to craft sets from the sounds available in that library to avoid copyright infringement.
