When Nike threw down in Johannesburg for this year’s Air Max Day, it wasn’t just about the sneakers. METHOD X MADNESS studio hosted an immersive Dolby Atmos pop-up inside the old Sheriff’s building, and the crowd couldn’t get enough. At the center of it all? ORIA — the immersive audio interface and monitor controller making it all sound massive.

With artists like DBN Gogo, Shamiso, Mateki2Shoes and ZVRI pushing out new tracks, the pop-up transformed into a full-on sensory experience. The room was compact, but the sound wasn’t. ORIA handled everything from routing to monitor control, feeding a 7.1.4 setup powered by Genelec speakers. It was tight, clean, and totally dialed in.

At a glance:

  • METHOD X MADNESS used ORIA to power a Dolby Atmos room for Nike’s Air Max Day.
  • The setup pulled in 250+ attendees in just two hours.
  • Artists heard their own music in Atmos for the first time — and left inspired.

Quick Setup, Big Sound

Setting up Dolby Atmos in a non-traditional venue can be chaos. But ORIA made it work — fast. According to Rici from METHOD X MADNESS, “We know we can get a solid Atmos setup up and running easily, no matter what challenges the space might throw at us.” The Genelec 9301’s AES out and ORIA’s smart integration meant there was zero friction between gear.

“We love it. It has been rock solid and super easy to use with its user-friendly UI,” Rici said about ORIA. “It honestly is so feature-rich for Dolby Atmos workflows.”

For the artists, many were hearing their own work in Atmos for the first time — and it landed hard. “They all loved it,” said Rici. “They were truly amazed and excited for what this means for their production process going forward.”

Real Buzz, Real Results

In just two hours, over 250 people cycled through the space to hear music in a whole new dimension. There was a line out the door — a sign that this kind of listening setup isn’t just a gimmick. It’s what fans and artists actually want.

“The energy was amazing,” said Rici. “We had been running for two hours and there was still a queue of people waiting for their turn to have the experience, which felt really great.”

The event wasn’t just about a great party either. It showed how ORIA can deliver pro-grade Atmos sound in real-world environments — fast, clean, and without needing a massive install.

Why ORIA Works for Pop-Ups

In studio settings, ORIA is already doing the work for METHOD X MADNESS. But for events like this, that reliability and speed matter even more. When time is short and the room isn’t ideal, having a monitor controller that just works — and works well — makes a massive difference.

That’s why Rici keeps leaning on it for events and Atmos mixing. “Using Dolby Atmos as a new audio format elevates and innovates what we can do both in production and mixing,” they said. “And ORIA lets us bring that to the public without compromise.”

Looking Ahead

The Nike collab is just the start. METHOD X MADNESS is already lining up more Atmos listening sessions and branded events. With ORIA in the rack, they’ve got the foundation to make every pop-up feel like a pro studio.

“There’s a lot of space for innovation and novel consumer experiences which can be built off the back of Dolby Atmos as a technology,” said Rici.
