After releasing their massive album Humanz in early 2017, Gorillaz reassured fans that even more music would be coming, with a far shorter wait time between projects this time. We now know that the next project is completed because frontman Damon Albarn revealed that after a night out drinking, he left his laptop with a master copy of the album in the back of a taxi, and (obviously) needed it back.

Albarn oversees everything Gorillaz related, and his computer also contained much of their expensive live show visuals, a source told The Mirror. “Damon oversees everything and, with Gorillaz, it’s not just audio – it’s the expensive visuals as well. The laptop’s contents are priceless. But after a night at Groucho, Damon accidentally left it in a cab and caused a huge panic.”

The laptop has since been returned by the taxi driver, and a possible disaster was averted. There are rumors that the album could arrive as early as next month. Here’s to hoping we will be getting new Gorillaz music sooner rather than later.
