Here’s some scoop on the life of us raver scribes. We calculate the arrival of springtime a bit differently than other folks. It goes something like this:
1. Like everyone else, even DJ Mag staffers turn back our clocks allowing for one extra hour of sunlight in the day.
2. A few hundred thousand of dance music’s cavalry jet to South Beach, FL, for Ultra Music Festival and Miami Music Week, where they rage for days and nights with an endurance that can be equated to superhuman levels.
3. We come home happily bleary-eyed, arms festooned with wristbands from a week of sun-filled debauchery to find no less than 300 emails waiting for answers, articles to write and file, bills to pay and invoices to chase.
4. After sleeping it off and running out of excuses to procrastinate life and work duties, we commence with the clearing of our inboxes.
And voila – spring has sprung!
This means the revealing of the Top 100 Clubs across the globe. It’s time to present the forerunners of nightlife, who work tirelessly to provide up-to-snuff sanctuaries for us rhythm junkies, with their turn in the sun. Find out who took this year’s top spot and reflect on the many exuberant experiences that came to fruition thanks to these havens of revelry.
Also in this issue, DJ Mag announces the second-ever Best of North America – shining a spotlight on the captains of the underground in our beloved scene. For these reasons, The FUNKLORDZ are a prime pair to kick off this spring issue in style (quite literally, see their video for the lead single, ‘Juice’, off the LP), and in heels…
