Detroit-native, house music pioneer and Fathom Records label boss Dwayne Jensen passed away on May 28 during the last day Movement Detroit 2018 - a music festival he had played regularly.
A self-taught musician who got his start as a jazz drummer, Dwayne Jensen gravitated towards house music production in the early '90s during the surge explosive electronic music in his city - playing alongside other legendary artists such as Frankie Knuckles, Steve “Silk” Hurley, Louie Vega and Larry Heard.
Jensen founded the record label Fathom Records in his hometown in 1994. The imprint aimed to showcase the edgy, artistic, versatility and unique flavor house music produced from Detroit.
Some Jensen's most notable productions include tracks such as 'My People', 'Thank You' and 'Chuggin'.
The cause Dwayne Jensen's passing is still unknown.
