Aluna Francis, singer of AlunaGeorge, has revealed she was sexually assaulted by someone from the music industry.

Speaking on BBC's The Next Episode podcast, Francis revealed the assault, which included the unnamed man trying to get her to perform oral sex, took place in a hotel room. He also took off his trousers and put his hands in her underwear, according to the singer.

Of the man she had been working on a song with, Francis said: "It was like I was in a room with a completely different person. His behaviour went from nought to a hundred.

"I was like, 'All right mate, calm down. Take your hands out of my pants please'. The last thing that was happening before I really got myself out of there is that he pinned me down and he'd taken his trousers down." Francis added she had to "wrestle him off" to escape and that, following the attack, she "thought that I was okay and I'm just so not,"

Francis also stated the music industry needs to do more to tackle sexual harassment.

"[It] is living in the past, an unmonitored, unregulated cesspit of bad behaviour. If a woman wants to stay safe, it's literally down to her to take care of that and navigate choices of whether to take a risk for her career or stay safe and miss out on opportunities."
