The fabric of Diplo’s
next endeavor is that of a ‘silken’ kind. That Diplo’s to go disco is hardly a secret — the electronic veteran disclosed in a GQ interview earlier in the year that he and youth pal, Mark Ronson were engaged on a collaborative disco flavored effort. “…me and Mark are doing a collab album,” Diplo stated, “You know the album I did with Skrillex, Jack Ü? Me and Mark are trying to do something with disco music.”
Well move over, Jack Ü; the Diplo and Ronson pairing is poised to sparkle with the fervor of a disco ball come June. The new duo is set to debut their “Silk City” project at the eighth edition of New York’s Governor’s Ball Music Festival. While further information regarding Diplo and Ronson’s groovy revival of the ‘70s sound currently remains scant, the event booking signals that the two have got something special hidden up their bell sleeves, something that just might inspire the Randall’s Island Park assembled crowds to do the Hustle.
