Despite festival organizers’ earlier intentions, Sun City Music Festival will not return to Ascarate Park, Texas during the 2018 Labor Day Weekend.

“Each year, the Disco and SMG teams work diligently to ensure every single time you enter the gates of Sun City Music Festival, the best possible experience awaits you. Throughout the calendar year, the SCMF team works extremely hard to meet this momentous task with rigorous standards in place. Unfortunately, we don’t believe that goal can be accomplished in 2018,” festival organizers wrote in a formal notice of festival cancellation uploaded to the event’s official Facebook page.

Sun City was established in 2011, and originally hosted at Cohen Stadium. The festival would later move to Ascarate Park, where it would host large scale electronic names like Skrillex and David Guetta. Festival organizers have noted their hope to hold Sun City Music Festival in El Paso during the 2019 year, despite the festival’s unexpected cancellation for 2018.
