
Ajamu Kambon, CEO and Co-Founder of Deep Root Tribe and Deep Root Records, will accept the inaugural Afro House Label Maverick Award on August 12th at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival. The ceremony takes place at the TCL Chinese Theatre during the festival’s Music Honorees Award Category.
The 21st edition of HollyShorts celebrates House and Afro House music—genres integral to Deep Root Tribe’s artistic identity. This recognition underscores Kambon’s pivotal role in advancing these sounds globally. The festival runs August 7th – 17th, featuring luminaries including Idris Elba, Stormzy, Michael Madsen, Viola Davis, and Stephen Fry.
Kambon will also participate in a Music Industry Panel hosted by HollyShorts and production company Framework, alongside industry veterans Karaba, Mathematics (Wu-Tang Clan), Dr. Chaii, and Bantu. The American entrepreneur, record executive, investor, and author has garnered recognition from Forbes in their Next 1000 List and earned induction into The Recording Academy. Kambon’s expertise spans business management, strategic partnerships, investing, event production, and entertainment marketing.
Beyond his label’s success, Kambon shares industry knowledge through “The Kambon Code,” a series of complimentary 15-minute consultations offered Wednesdays and Fridays, addressing questions on music industry navigation, artist development, event management, publishing, Web3, and investing.
