A voice note sent from Justin Baldoni to his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively has emerged online, in the midst of a legal battle between the two.

Lively sued Baldoni last month, accusing him of “inappropriate and unwelcome behaviour” and claiming he was trying to “destroy” her reputation. Baldoni has denied all accusations and countersued January 16, including Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds and publicist Leslie Sloane in the suit.

His filing claims to have come about due to an “overwhelming amount of untampered evidence detailing Blake Lively and her team’s duplicitous attempt to destroy Justin Baldoni, his team and their respective companies”.

In December, Baldoni sued The New York Times, which reported Lively’s allegations. In a statement to US outlet NPR, the newspaper said they “plan to vigorously defend against the lawsuit”.

Originally published Monday (January 27) by Daily Mail, the recording is a six-minute audio of Baldoni appearing to apologise for a recent disagreement over edits to a scene in the film. He states that it’s “two in the morning”, although it’s not stated what date the note was sent.

During the clip, he appears to be referencing the issues between himself and Lively over rewrites and edits to the film, which were mentioned as part of his lawsuit against the star and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.

“I am far from perfect. I am a flawed man, as my wife will attest” he says. “And I’m going to fuck up. I’m going to say the wrong thing. I’m going to put my foot in my mouth. I’m going to piss you off, probably, but I will always apologize and find my way back to centre. That is one thing I can assure you of. I’m sorry I made you feel that way”.

He goes on to speak positively about the potential of their working partnership, saying: “I think you and I have been trying to build a relationship, which I think we’ve done successfully. I mean here we are — talking like this — me into my phone at two in the morning, but largely via text and voice note. And I will be honest with you, that is not my biggest strength”.

He continued: “I love being with people and being in somebody’s, in somebody’s space and being face to face and I feel like that’s where I excel and definitely fallen short at times in our text and voice note exchanges so much to communicate and there’s so much happening and all that to say, I’m just really looking forward to spending time together and I think that’s going to really go a long way for our chemistry, which I believe is there — has been there from the start”.

This latest development comes after Baldoni released outtakes from the set of the romantic drama, which both sides went on to say vindicate their accusations.
