HBO has denied ongoing rumours that Euphoria season three has been cancelled.
A recent report from Jeff Sneider on the status of the hit teen drama cast major doubt on the upcoming third season, with the film critic claiming in a X/Twitter thread it was “dead” at HBO and the planned production for 2025 was no longer happening. Notably, his account has now been set to private.
HBO has since responded, with one of their reps telling The Independent on Friday (November 8): “Euphoria is going in to production in 2025. Nothing has changed.”
In a statement issued back in July, HBO’s head of drama Francesca Orsi said she was “thrilled” to reveal that the show will begin shooting this coming January, with the entire main cast set to return.
Notably, despite abating the recent cancellation rumours, most of Euphoria’s major cast members face jam-packed schedules ahead of them next year, leading to fans questioning when the long-delayed production will actually take place.
Zendaya plays Rue Bennett in the show, and is set to shoot Dune: Messiah, Spider-Man 4 as well as Christopher Nolan’s next as-yet-titled film in 2025.
Her co-stars are equally busy, with Jacob Elordi committed to his Saltburn boss Emerald Fennell’s reimagining of Wuthering Heights, and Sydney Sweeney set to film Paul Feig’s The Housemaid early next year.

the way euphoria doesn't really need a season 3 because rue's storyline kinda wrapped up, like her relationship with jules ending bittersweet, her voiceover saying she stayed sober and idc about the other stuff soooo,, sounds like a good ending to me https://t.co/UQb1OyTjMs

There have been numerous reports about the delay of the third season, which were compounded by the tragic death of Euphoria star Angus Cloud in August last year.
The delays were enough to apparently confound even its lead stars – with Sweeney telling NME that she doesn’t “know how soon I’m going home”, having said working on the show felt “like home” when she returns to it. Meanwhile, Zendaya said earlier this year that the show’s delays were “beyond me”.
The comment came amid swirling rumours that the creative relationship between Zendaya and Sam Levinson had soured after he moved away from Euphoria to focus solely on The Idol – a show that was universally panned by critics and cancelled after just one season.
Two-time Emmy-winning actress later confirmed the third instalment was seemingly going ahead, complete with a time jump.
