Beyoncé has asked her mother Tina Knowles to not “spill too much Mama Tea” in her new memoir.

Yesterday (October 29), the mother of the pop icon announced her brand new book titled Matriarch: A Memoir. A synopsis of the book shares that it will chronicle Knowles’ youth as a “precocious, if unruly, little girl” from Galveston, Texas and will take readers through her life including “grief and tragedy, creative and romantic risks and turmoil, the nurturing of superstar offspring and of her own special gifts.”

The synopsis goes on to describe the story as “a multigenerational family saga that carries within it the story of America – and the wisdom that women pass on to each other, mothers to daughters, across generations.”

Beyoncé took to her official Instagram account to share the cover of her mother’s book with a caption that read: “Mama, I couldn’t be prouder. My love for you goes beyond what I can say. You put your heart into this book. I’m happy for you to share some of the stories that shaped you into who you are. To know you is to love you. But please don’t spill too much Mama Tea.”

Matriarch: A Memoir is set for release on April 22, 2025 and is available for pre-order here.

Beyoncé’s former bandmate and Tina’s “bonus daughter” Kelly Rowland also shared her support for the memoir in an Instagram post where she wrote: “MA!!! I am so excited for you! You have worked so hard on ‘Matriarch and A Memoir’, and I can’t wait til everyone gets their hands on it! They will be inspired, they will connect, they will laugh, they will def shed some tears, and bond with you over the intimate details you have shared! I’m so proud of you!”

Earlier this year, Tina reflected on the rise of Beyoncé’s career, and revealed that she saw it as her “mission” to protect the singer during the early days of her fame.

“The industry can chew you up and spit you out. And I was determined that there were not going to be certain elements around them and that they weren’t going to get eaten up by that. It just became my mission. Those are your kids, and you want to protect them and they need protection. Trust me, they need it,” she said in an interview with Glamour.
