The first footage of the brand new UK rave tradition drama Beats has been revealed.

Produced by Steven Soderbergh, directed by Brian Welsh (Black Mirror) and written by Welsh and Kieran Hurley, the approaching of age movie takes place in Scotland throughout the summer time of 1994 and follows two mates who dive headfirst into the free get together scene.

Making their movie debut, the film's lead actors Cristian Ortega and Lorn Macdonald play greatest mates Johnno and Spanner - two enthusiastic ravers with a deep bond who're on the cusp of maturity. Soon to be separated, Johnno and Spanner determine to spend their final summer time collectively dwelling it up on the rave and taking part within the UK's huge counter-cultural youth motion.

The soundtrack options tracks from The Belleville Three, Carl Craig, Leftfield, The Prodigy, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Plastikman, LFO, Hudson Mohawke and Orbital.

The movie first premiered on the Rotterdam Film Festival and can display screen on the Dublin International Film Festival and Glasgow Film Festival and earlier than its UK launch on May 17.
