New Australian label Eyegaze has launched with an EP from Sydney producer Pat Carroll and a focus on left field and downtempo electronic music.

The textured three-track exploration 'Conditions' marks a shift from Carroll's former production alias Piecey and is out today (August 10) through the nascent Sydney-based Stoney Roads Records offshoot.

Speaking of the release, the musical composition PhD student said: "The EP explores the heavier side of music that I draw inspiration from and merges my interests of electroacoustic studies and groove-based music.

"The tracks focus on the idea of transformation, and how this can occur on multiple musical levels simultaneously. To me, the tracks are the product of ignoring some unnecessary considerations that I used to write music by."

Carroll's studies explore how musical structures can be synthesised from the spatial aspects of images.
