announced the re-release their iconic IIIP modular synthesizer. Priced at $35,000, the original synth dates back to the late 1960s and is handcrafted with all original art and technological documentation in the Moog factory in Asheville, North Carolina. According to Moog’s website, the IIIP modular features thirty-seven hand-soldered modules including ten 901-Series audio oscillators, the 984 Matrix Mixer, and the 905 Spring Reverb.
“In 1965, Bob Moog began taking orders for individual modules and customized modular systems” says the Moog website. “By 1967, he and a team ten skilled technicians were hand-building production models in an unassuming brick storefront in Trumansburg, NY. The cutting-edge musical instruments that they called ‘synthesizers’ signaled electronic music’s maturation from an awkward and shy intruder in the realm music to a dynamic and significant medium musical expression.”
The legacy Bob Moog continues to survive through the unearthing and re-releasing seminal products such as the IIIP modular.
